View Full Version : Slow wood trim 90s wagon, 404 on ramp = hey it can do ramp to 10 in about 2 seconds

As title....

Older gent in a wood trim wagon doing about 35 on the on ramp, kept tapping his brakes. I went even slower to build up some space for my run.

Floored it and shifted 3rd through 6th. About 2 to 3 seconds to get to 100 (cannot tell for sure since I was driving and not timing).

Thanks to 263 horses merging was a breeze after all!

Pretty fun :)

35km/h in 3rd? Would have been even faster had you started in 2nd.

How does one actually clutch and shift 3 gears in 2 seconds??

So basically the OP strokes his ego by 'smoking' an old guy with an old beater - real class there! :chuckle

Keep it up and I'm sure that older gent will give you a nice friendly wave as the cops stand outside your drivers side window asking you some questions.

Its called a racetrack, go find one.

Wow lot of haters today. He did post this in the MS3 section, so I don't think he thinks he's better then anyone. The guy likes his speed3, nothing wrong with that.

Also, cops won't arrest you for accelerating quickly, as long as you aren't speeding when you're done accelerating.... ("Racing engine" ticket doesn't apply here. Merging onto the highway at 35km/h is unsafe and you are expected go get up to hwy speeds as quickly as possible)

+1, highway on ramps are the only place I dare to have fun. :)

Strange since I wasn't speeding nor cutting anyone off. He was trying to merge at 35, I slowed down to give myself space to accelerate around him. What exactly did I do wrong?

Haha, and guilty of saying 2 seconds instead of the statistically correct 4.298 seconds it actually took.

Like i said just me and i wasn't timing it just didn't want to be stuck in a dangerous merge situation and since I can get away quickly why not right?

Maybe some people got buyer's remorse from getting a regular 3?

Your cockiness in your OP is what has drawn attention to this thread.

When you look at how pitiful MS3 resale values are combined with expensive and imminent turbo repairs, I doubt any remorse is present here. :)

So he's bragging about his car, isn't that half of the reason people are on here?, there's a lot of haters on here for sure, and yes lots of them are jealous b/c they have 1st gens or 2.0's and on and on. Enjoy the ride man, wish I had sprung for the speed3 instead of my 2.5 litre!! people on here always bitch about "racing" without REALLY reading the post, so don't take it too hard!!

Funny thing is I am not even bragging. I was just thrilled to have a chance to let the car stretch it's legs. I do plan on going to the track in the spring. My project manager at work is actually a race instructor and everyone goes from our team. So that should be a lot of fun! My car might be the slowest though since he has a STI and one of the managers actually has an NSX and not a garage queen that car's blown engines a few times on the track apparently.

Anyhow I don't care if people react negatively to this. To me it's just a bunch of people who can't share in the joy of having a nice car and letting it do what it's designed to do once in a while providing you are doing it safely and not breaking any laws. And if people don't understand that then it begs the question "what are you doing on the Mazdaspeed part of the forum"?

LOL most of the time people pass me on city roads cause I try to stretch my fuel economy. Right now it's sitting at 10L/100 with about 50/50 city and highway. The car really does well when there's no traffic and you can cruise along in 5th or 6th.

As for your 330 why not? With great power cames great responsibility! After you get biten by a radioactive spider of course.. :)

Meh resell is not on the top of my mind. Keep it at least 6 years by then I would be looking for a nicer car as a replacement and the speed 3 can be the winter beater. As for repairs my last car racked up 10k of warranty repairs within the first 3 years (hint it's a nissan). I don't think I'd blink.

my 2.5l isnt that great either but i do agree that it does very well on the highway without traffic. as for the cruising in 5th or 6th can also be less fuel efficient depending on the speed as the motor struggles more. But i cannot drive anything fast right now I still need a few more years to mature lol Beleive me however i do love my mazda

Warranty... It's why we're all driving new cars. ;) Most of the major problems were sorted out in the later models. The 07's had fuel pump problems, but there's no wide spread turbo issue. There ARE other issues with the car, but no car is perfect.

(Even though your post was very trollish)

The idiots who can't read really make this forum kinda sucks. Here's a few points

1) Why buy a speed 3? Cause I like nice car with good power, great handling and long list of features. Why does that draw such strange reaction from you guys? Maybe you should carefully think about what it is about yourself or your life that cause you to react so negatively to me getting a nicer car and enjoying it in a safe way. That comment about the 1995 civic is to be completely frank more the response of a primary school student than that of a mature adult.

2) Since I have this car I let it rip when it's safe and responsible to do so. This has nothing to do with me "smoking" anyone or anything (starting to suspect maybe some people are replying under some sort of influence?). It's just me telling people I enjoyed letting the car run a bit for once after weekday stop and go city traffic. The context of the story with the older gent in the wagon was just the situation I was faced with. Either I do what some seem to think I should do which is follow him at 35 kph onto the highway potentially causing an accident. Or do what I did which was to let a big space build between him and me on the ramp and the floor it when I come out of the turn to quickly merge 2 lanes out so A) I didn't impeded traffic and B) I didn't get in the older gent's when when he merges.

3) There's a lot of schadenfreude going on here in these forum where people seems to take pleasure in the fact or idea of someone else's misfortune. I have never had a ticket, not even a parking ticket. I don't speed. I don't cut people off. So you can go find someone else to get your jollies off of. Again why? Please consider why you need to say what you said.

Anyhow for those who do get where I am coming thanks for making the forum a nice place to be. Hopefully the one who haven't got past their teenage angst will keep quiet and read a bit more before they reply the next time.

Usually stay clear of the MazdaSpeed 3 Forum section but lmfao couldn't help but notice the entertainment of online TM3 drama.

**Pulls the two boys up to look at the computer (aged 7 and 5) "Alright boys this is how adults argue over the Internet this is what you get to look forward to when your older".**

I think the only reason your getting flamed on the net is your bragging about something that happens daily, and usually people don’t post it over the net. I can understand your car is new and yes the speed3 is a nice affordable sports car but unfortunately the reality is if something that is posted online there is a huge chance people will have a reaction and voice their opinion on it. Also … it’s torontomazda3.ca not speed3 vs mazda3… who cares if people drive a non-turboed car. Maybe some people are jealous and others (like myself) could care less.

This is getting blow way out of proportion.... I'm pretty sure he was simply saying in a round about way that he is enjoying his car. What's the big deal? If anything, the guy in the old car is more dangerous merging at 35km/h than 100-120 km/h. I use on-ramps all the time to see what my car can do.... same as I did in my 06 Mazda 3.

Enough. This thread started as fairly pointless and has now become totally so. The only good take-away's were the starry bra pic, the use of Schadenfreude in a sentence and the picture of Juliana Chiovitti in the Canada's Worst Driver 2 picture.

Thread closed.
