Started hearing this clunking noise since around one month ago and went to the dealer last week for oil change,it ended up being the blown rear left shock that caused the noise, dealer quoted me $210 all included to replace a new shock. I've been wanting to put on coilovers or Bilsten shocks/H&R springs, but now is not quite the right time to do it , so the problem is whether I should have it replaced by the dealer asap so that blown shock wouldn't cause any other problems, or I can wait longer to get some aftermarket shock/coilovers later on. Another thing is that I have no time to install the shock by myself,so dealer is probably the only choice I have for now if to do it.

Thanks for any words!

The knocking is going to get worse. I wouldn't let it go more than a few weeks... After that your bushings back there are going to start to take a pounding.

I would look for a member on the forums that may be willing to sell/give you an OEM shock for the time being. Then get it installed somewhere more affordable.

Hrm... well I DO have my OEM set just sitting in my basement. (Minus one rear... since I blew one before I put on my H&R's)

You interested in one?

I blew out two rear rights (one covered under warranty) and now my rear left is on the way out. The shocks aren't covered under mazda's "bumper to bumper" extended warranty which i bought. I guess they don't think that the shocks are between the bumpers.

Anyway, when I replaced my last rear shock I got the shock its self for $130 including taxes, with the 20% TM3 discount. Any TM3 affiliated dealership will give you the 20% off all and any parts if you ask for it. I then installed the shock with a friend. It isn't hard at all to install, just need some help with a buddy and a deep 12mm socket which I had to run out and buy with my car taken apart, haha. If you want help installing it, let me know. I've done it before and will be doing it again soon, I have safety stands and the proper sockets.

you could always drive out here if you wanted pick up the shock and have it installed here by someone lol. But then if you do the math i think the trip down here would cost you more the replacement at the dealer

Dude I'm in Montreal all the time, my fiance lives there. I'm going for the October long week end with my buddy. It's also my birthday week end. She lives in NDG on Elmhurst just between Sherbrooke and St Jacques (or however it's spelled)
