Yesterday, I went to do the keyless on the car to lock it and the front driver side didnt lock. Tried it from inside too and once again, it didnt. We had to manually lock the door

Today it is okay

I made an Appt at Dave Wood for Tuesday but prefer to cancel if its nothing serious. Anyone else have this problem? Please let me know

Thanks Guys

Leslie

Might be a fuse.............

usually a fuse controls the entire locking system. Sounds like you are having issues with your actuator

Actually, there are two fuses.

F37 handles unlock for all doors and lock for rear and passenger doors. F37 handles unlock for the drivers door.

If the drivers door both refuses to lock and unlock, then it's probably the lock motor.

Would that be under warranty?? I have the Extended until January

Ive never had to work on locking system on the 3 before and from cars from work they are all controlled by 1 fuse. OP states it didnt work 1 day and did work the next which sounds more like an actuator then a fuse. I have seen internally broken fuses which are super rare but do exist

Bean: yes it should be covered. extended warranties are iffy on what they cover

Eric at Dave Wood told me that they would have to submit it to Mazda. Why wouldnt Mazda cover it if it should be under the warranty? We havent submitted anything else to them in the four years we have had the warranty

In other words, why pay for a warranty if they might not do anything?

How much would this end up costing?

their are 2 types of warrantys 1 is the map and the 2nd is the comprehensive. the map covers certain things and the comprehensive covers bumper to bumper (so i have been explained) the map covers major parts. Again this is going by what i have been informed on. Someone correct me if i am wrong

We got the MAP warranty. The car is a 2007 model by the way

you may still be within the factory warranty depending on when you picked up the car

yeah didnt know when you got your car and didnt know the mileage.
Best bet is let the dealer check it out as I am basing this off of what it sounds like

Husband is mad and he will make sure there is no charge when he takes it in on Tuesday. I am going to do the wise thing and stay home ;)

if you get lucky it will be covered under map. BUT if its not covered their is not much that can be done. I work at a dealer not a mazda but a dealer I do not want to release the name or manufacturer on the forum. We have something similar to map and it covers major compnents but not everything

Any idea on how much this WOULD cost without Warranty? :)

If it does turn out to be a door lock actuator from the ones i have priced out they are about 300-350$ plus labour. Labour can range from 1 hour to 2 hours depending on what kind of car it is and if the window glass has to come out because the window regulator is in the way of the actuator. Plus your diag charge which could be anywhere between half hour to 1 hour

Come to think of it, we are having issues with the drivers side power window. It doesnt close properly some of the time

Sigh

McGuyver_3

the main power window switch is to blame they are common

If it isn't covered by warranty you could get a lower rate by taking it M&D or Street Performance

Bean

If its not under warranty, not going to get it done

McGuyver_3

my pricing is based on a different manufacturer mazda may be cheaper or even do what NC said and take it somewhere. I am sure you could get the part that needs replacing elsewhere. Don't give up that easy. We however are preparing you for the worst maybe it is covered

that will gve youa rough idea of what is and what is not covered. But then again let the dealer figure out what is wrong with it and i hope for your sake it is covered
