Probably is... Does it go away when the transmission warms up?

It's because the transmission and the limited slip diff use the same oil in the Speed3 so it's all about finding the right balance. Some people have added friction modifier to the transmission to get rid of the LSD noise but this may affect the shift quality so most of us just live with it.

This is well documented all over the place and everyone has said that it doesn't affect anything negatively.

Start here: http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?43249-Review-of-Motorcraft-Ford-Synthetic-Transmission-Fluid

Then do a search, there should be tons of posts about this... I think there is one from Fobio about that noise as well.
