Saw this on the news this morning.

What really gets me is how the whole front gets demolished while the SUV doesn't seem to have a scratch. That being said, it is a stunt double for chase/action sequences so shouldn't it be able to handle a collision and not have the front end come right off?

It almost looked like no one was driving the SUV though. Why did the guy run over to turn off the siren?

NM. Watched it again and saw the driver.

it seems like the car is made from cheap plastic, at least the front end. I don't get how the cop didn't see a film crew and a closed off section.

Ryan, can you edit the title. just noticed i spelled "filming" wrong. lol

Plus I'm sure those police SUV's are built pretty solid.

the reports in the news was that the film crew had cleared it with the police but the driver of the suv (part of the bomb squad) was on another frequency from the regular police and didn't know they were filming.

Just glad it was the Camaro that was the first car coming around the corner and not the 458 that was behind it.

You do realize that Optimus is the massive Peterbilt 18-Wheeler right? That was bumblebee who crashed into the SUV. I just hope the dog is okay, that's a Canine unit.
You can't see it that well in the first clip, but it's a bit of a blind corner. And they don't always have radios / walkie-talkies in the stunt cars.

They have Ratchet right there in the background, why don't they just get him to fix everyone up good as new? lol.

"Look! He transformed into a wreck!" lol.

FILMING of "Transformers 3" has resumed in Washington after a temporary halt caused by a collision between a vehicle in the movie and a police SUV.

Production was halted on Monday when the police vehicle collided with a yellow Chevy Camaro - known as Bumblebee in the movie series - on 3rd Street and Maryland Ave in southwest DC.

The wreck was not scripted, however a source on the set of the movie said the crash will now be written in.

The police officer driving the car, a veteran bomb technician, was responding to a call and was apparently using a different radio channel to the officers who were securing the movie set perimeter when the crash happened.

He was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and no civilians were injured in the crash, police said, but it prompted a safety review.

The Metropolitan Police Department released a joint advisory with the District Department of Transportation and the city's Office of Motion Picture and Television Development saying: "Following a review of safety procedures, the filming of Transformers 3 will resume this evening with enhanced public safety measures."

It was the second incident to mar production of the movie, with a movie extra hurt in another crash on September 1.

Gabriela Cedillo, 24, is suing Paramount in connection with the earlier crash, alleging that the studio's negligence led to her suffering "serious injuries and brain damage."

The third installment of the smash hit Transformers film series is due for release July 2011.

All the Hurr Durr Tards in this thread make me laugh.

The camaro acted the way it should have in a collision.. and lol at all the "plastic" comments coming from people who drive plastic cars.

bahahahah both to the thread and to the clip. Apparently they didn't close the entire street off properly. My 2cents is the police officer must of known they were shooting there when he went around the barricades and just went for it ... "Look ma I'm in a movie”. A massive movie like that and he wasn’t sure where it was and on the wrong radio channel…. Riiiiiiiight.
