Does anyone here have Bell Fibe 25? Can you post up a Speedtest.net speed test result?

I'm considering getting this service, but want to know what people think... are the speeds consistent?

Nice!

Do you still have to use PPPoE with that service?

Also what happens when you go over the cap repeatedly? ;) I asked the Bell guy and he said $30 max for basically unlimited Internet. I asked if they would throttle or get pissed at me for hitting the cap repeatedly, and he said no.... What has been your experience?

Ive never heard anything from them or had any extra charges yet. But i really like the speed it gives me. Not to sure about the PPPoE maybe you can elaborate? lol

When you got your Fibe25 modem/service, did you just plug it into your computer or router, or did you have to login with a username/password to get the service to work? Sometimes you enter the u/p in your router and sometimes people just run it on the computer.

Oh, we got a new modem from bell at the same time. We set up a password and stuff for our network but we did not have to do anything other than that.

wow having speeds like that you're bound to go over the limited repeatedly. I have fibe 12 and I am already going well over the limit. I used to have rogers until their bandwidth charge maxed at $50.

im on rogers, paying more than fibe 25 and only getting 10 mb

I'm with Rogers now... I'm going to try out the Fibe 25 service... 2 Fibe 25's vs 1 Robers Ultimate is still cheaper (when you factor in going over your cap on both services) lol and way faster (50 Mbps down / 10-14 Mbps up) vs Roger's 50 down / 2 mb up. But I dislike PPPoE...but I like fast upload speeds... so I'll learn to deal with it.

Well now bell gives out these shitty modem/wireless router combos so it's preset with your info IIRC

Other then that it depends on where you live. I live in East Scarborough and i get 10 Mbps on a 12mbps connection. Make sure you arn't paying for what you are not getting

Since i had this plan since forever i'm still on an unlimited plan

I like the idea of the Bell Fibre service. But the usage caps are killer for me. 50-75GB per month, $5 more for an additional 40GB. I need 150GB per month usage, anything less would be very expensive.

You can keep buying packages... There's a $10 and $20 package I believe, which give you considerable more bandwidth. But if you're okay with hitting a $30 max for unlimited bandwidth, that's the route I'm taking...

I live in Mississauga, near S1 so I'm hoping I'll see good speeds... but if I see anything less than 20 mb down 4 mb up, I'll probably just cancel the service and keep my Rogers connection.

I thought about them, but their speeds are too slow. :( Even with MLPPP it's slower then Rogers or Bell's offering... (Although better priced!)

I am currently with Teksavvy for DSL and home phone, and am in the process of cancelling all services. Primarily because of their horrible customer service. I had signed up my sister for both Teksavvy home phone, and internet. Install was supposed to be 10/1, and Teksavvy dropped the ball. Installation number 2 scheduled 10/12 between 8am-5pm, another Teksavvy "miscommunication" .
When you call their customer service, they either blame the consumer, or Bell, even though they are at fault.
I'm done with TekSavvy, and am going to try and switch as many people as possible.

I looked into them, but with my current plan, it isn't worth it my internet caps out at 10mbps but i don't really care beyond that in terms of speed plus i save money from our package with bell plus they know me from all the calls i had to make to them. I don't bother with the first level any more

As for the TC, he into the more speed an extra 10 mbps over teksavvy's best plan

Is the $30 per month max cap posted anywhere?

Is the $30 per month max cap posted anywhere?

I was able to find some confirmation online by doing a search for "Bell fibe $30 max"... Some people are talking about it.

All I did was ask the Bell rep when I signed up and he confirmed it today.

I had the Bell Fibe 16 and at most I was getting 3Mb/s. In fact, I called Bell and they did a test on their end and verified that the max I could get at my location was about 3.5-3.7Mb/s yet they never mentioned anything and it tooks days and days spent on the phone to get anything done and then they still overcharged me. Thank goodness I only had to deal with that crap for 4 months.

hmm, just checked with Bell, for $15 I can add 80GB of bandwidth. Looks like Fibe12 might work for me. Any idea on the modem rental charges?

Does bell throttle downloading (like Torrent and the like?). Recently Rogers has been doing HEAVY throttling or rather...Traffic Shaping of internet.

As a heads-up to you guys "Fibe" is not actually fiber-optic internet. It's Bell's branding of their VDSL2 (which is over copper phone lines) service. VDSL2 speeds drop of drastically based on the distance you are from the node so depending on where you live you could easily end up no faster than their cheaper services.

If you want faster DSL "Fibe" should work for you, especially if you live in the city. But it's deceptive marketing.

I recently switched to Fibe 6, got a new "white" modem. $4.95 a month

I don't need insane speed and for the price the speed is good enough for me.

All the ISP's do, officially or otherwise. From what I have read, the Fibe service is not heavily throttled yet, because they are still trying to heavily promote the new service.

Yeah, I am aware it is not Fibre. I am concerned about the possible performance degradation, though I am in a heavily populated area of the 'burbs.

here's the proof that they charge $30 max for additional usage from my friends account.

Hah 700 GB... Nice! Glad it's confirmed, thanks much appreciated.

Anyone complaining about speeds, can you list your location? I get my service on Thursday and I want to know what to expect...

Also, anyone know of any promotions currently active? I didn't really get anything, although I hear you can buy a $20-30 pack from Dell's website and get free Fibe for 4 months...... no commitments...

To be accurate, its actually copper from your home to the ONU. From the ONU to the OLT and onwards its fibre

It is PPPoE...but the modem's generally have PPPoE passthru which means you can configure your own router behind the modem with the userid and password and it will authenticate

Bell only gives me dial-up where I live. So rogers/cable is my only choice. I'm going to try out Teksavvy anyways, even if it's just for a month, because I don't need more than 10mb of speed, but I do use tons of data. Who knows, Rogers may offer me a deal just to keep me on, and then I can afford to pay the $50 charge at the end of the month...

By the way, just to update this thread... I managed to get the Fibe 25 service and it's pretty sweet. They lock it to 26 Mbps downstream, so you get about 25.X on speedtest. Upstream is locked to 6, which translates to about 5.5-ish in the real world. Not bad!

The funny thing is, the day after I ordered this service, Bell stopped advertising the service for my area! Apparently Fibe 16 is the most I can get if I were to order today... Which makes me wonder why.
