3-0-0.. first time since 1999-2000 season. Really didn't expect this to happen.. Anybody think there gonna be a serious contender team, or do they still have some building to do???

The leafs are a strong team on paper, and it seems they are having a great start. Im a little skeptical about them going from a bottom feeder to a serious contender but time will tell. They are playing well right now, fundamentally they are way above last year, but we will see if they fall into injury trouble like previous years. But for the time im definitely enjoying the buds winning for a change. Go Leafs Go!

the last thing i wanna do is start saying how great the leafs are doing as a team, but one thing is for sure. burke was brought in to completely rebuild the team, and this 3 game streak is proof that hes well on his way to his ultimate goal

It got a little colder after they won...oh wait, that's hell freezing over.
Don't get your hopes up, folks, because they're going to suck like they always do. I hope they don't make the playoffs...I really hope.

Them's some choice words! I really wish they make it into the playoffs, and for sake of arguement, into the second round.

Haha, don't get me wrong here, my qualm is with the organization. I'd love for the players to do well and achieve what every NHL'er wants to do - win a Stanley Cup but I'd hate for MLSE to have that...it would kill me.

They are really doing quite well this year, playing strong as a team, but only time will tell....
I honestly dont' get how people could doupt Brian Burke and Ron Wilson, they didn't have much to work with and had to play their shitty players last year in hopes someone would make a trade for them
secondly look at the olympics, most if not everyone thought team USA would have been out of the medal contention, even the NHLPA had all their tickets to go home for sunday morning. I think people don't give these two the credit they deserve, they don't have much to work with but managed to make do with that they have and now after some hard work they have a respectable team with players who can now obviously do come damage on the ice, both in hits and goals

Dont get your hopes up just yet. They've ONLY won 3 games.
Besides, theres a greater chance of them not making the playoffs AGAIN than there is of them making it.

It blows my mind how when the Leafs were losing for the past years, support was high for them, and now that they show a little bit of hope, everyone is not giving them a chance.

Not me...I've been doubting them for years! Hahaha....Torontonians are the stupidest fans (as an overall group of people) out of all sports cities, at least when it comes ot hockey.

There's a very fine line between blind loyalty and stupidity. The rest of the country mocks Toronto sports fans because of the unwavering loyalty their fans show, however i'd like to attribute a good deal of the verbal flack to jealousy that their own team sells tickets for $15 and still can't sell out.

While I agree with this statement that it is still early and to look more in depth after a few more games, you can't help but see the fact that they are playing MUCH better than last year. While I believe they have a very strong chance to get into the playoffs, I don't see them doing too good in it (though, as a fan, would love them to prove me wrong).
Something to be optimistic about at least and it's more exciting to watch now.

True, while we couldn't seal the deal since then, there have been a few close attempts and at least making the playoffs quite a bit before this recent drought. Though I think times are changing soon and this is a positive first step.

Yes, its way better to watch a winning time and I will be impressed if they make it to the playoffs this year be a sign of a good turn around.

Even if they were to have lost yesterday, it was still a great game and it shows they are improving. Either way, I see it as a good sign. How far it goes, only time will tell.

Supporting your team during the bad times is not stupidity! It is loyalty. Do you think the leafs will still be here if there is no more interest in them just like in other cities that forced their hockey teams to move? I am glad people here have such great loyalty and continue to support the leafs even when it gets frustrating. Oh, and be careful with those words. A lot of people here on TM3 are leafs fans!

Well put, ive always said its easy to be a fan when ur team is winning, its hard to be a fan when ur team is losing. Stupidity in fans is those who jump ship to a winning team just because your team is losing. Being a fan of a team is about more than they wins/losses. Ive always liked toronto, obviously because of where i grew up, and i will remain a fan even if they never win another cup.

I've never believed in 'jumping on the band wagon' and it's not something I do or have done in the past. I know what it means to be a fan - I've been cheering for the Jays since I knew who/what they were. Every year I say they're going to go all the way - is it realistic, hell no, but I know that. Good or bad, I want them to win but it doesn't mean blind loyalty, which to me, is no better than stupidity. This is where things differ and thus I will elaborate.
When I posted (it), I knew my comment would raise some eyebrows, and so I will explain my opinion/point of view a little better.
Read this and think about it for a few moments:
"According to Chicago-based Team Marketing Report's annual survey released this week, Maple Leafs games at the Air Canada Centre carry an average ticket price equivalent to $117.49 (U.S.) this season, more than double the league's average price of $51.41."
Now think about the fact that Toronto has not seen an NHL Playoffs game in this city since 2004.
Why does Toronto have the highest ticket prices in the NHL? Because Leafs fans are idiots and pay it.
Why do the Leafs always have lacklustre teams? Because MLSE feels no need to spend money or to make an effort because they can sit on their asses and do nothing and Leafs 'fans' will pay the price.
Everyone gets upset when the Leafs don't make the playoffs but what do they go out and do...buy (seasons) tickets for next year, and the year after, and so on. No matter how bad the Leafs do, MLSE will never spend the money to make the team better because they're a business and a business exists to make money.
MLSE makes a shit-ton of money for only a minimal investment (relatively speaking), so why spend more when there is no way to make it back? The Leafs sell out every game, regardless of standing or opponent. If Leafs fans want a better team, then they have to hit MLSE where it counts - in the wallet.
Stop paying outrageous prices (Why should a parent have to pay $500 just to take their kids out experience an NHL hockey game - is that what it's really all about???) and stop buying-out every game. Actions speak louder than words, especially in a case such as this.
Part of the problem is that the Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan owns 2/3 of MLSE and have held it far longer than their investment mandates would normally allow, because it's a CASH COW. They do nothing, they make everything. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. If the Leafs were owned by someone genuinely interested in the sport and the team, then they'd be willing to spend what it would take to restore the Leafs to their former glory but until that happens (if it ever does), don't count on anything changing unless profit is at stake.
This is why Leafs fans are idiots and why I, at the same time, resent MLSE. Will I watch the Leafs on TV? Sure. Do I want Toronto to have a succesful team? Of course, but for the city and for the players, not for MLSE. Will I ever step foot inside the ACC to watch a Leafs game? Not if it means I have to pay for it.

Iceman is 100% correct and the perfect example of fans putting and end to MLSE are the TFC fans. They basically decided not to renew season ticket purchases and complained to MLSE about using their images (Section 127 fans I can't remember their names) in advertisements about the team. I don't know how well versed everyone is on here with the English Premier league but you can get a top seat season ticket package for Manchester United cheaper than what you will pay for a TFC season ticket.... I mean seriously.
MLSE has issued an apology and lowered ticket prices and extended the deadline to buy season tickets.
Also though remember its not so much leaf fans buying up season tickets its corporations buying up allot of season tickets as well, probably more than general fans are. When that business is guaranteed they make more money per seat when you include food and beverage then when a general fan comes in and only pays for the ticket.
So all and all I don't think we will ever see any change :(

Not to be arrogant or anything but don't you mean I'm 100% correct, although I suppose technically Iceman is too because he agrees with me! XD Haha...doesn't really matter, just being pedantic. But yah, I don't think we'll every see anything change unless the ownership changes.
I forget the exact number, but there is a vast portion of Leafs tickets dedicated to season's ticket(s) holders and the lineup to become a season's ticket(s) holder is RIDICULOUS. My family (Grandparents had them and now my aunt continues it) has had season's tickets since the late 60's/early 70's and part of the reason we still have them is because you get choice of games, it's easy as hell to sell tickets and it's easy to make profit on tickets, if you want to. (And like I said, try getting season's tickets now...haha, fat chance in hell).
Before you start calling me out on this, my direct family (parents, siblings) never normally go to the games because it's WAY too expensive and it's just not worth it and in addition, the majority of the games get sold (i.e all but a few). Spending a couple hundred on tickets and then having parking, food, drinks, etc., etc. cost you your other arm and leg just doesn't make sense.

well your whole point of not liking the leafs is because of management...I agree in that the leafs management is ridiculous!!! Owners of sports teams should be individuals who are passionate about the game, not a pension plan where the only motive is profit. But that being said...I don't blame them for charging these prices. With these prices....they still have more than enough demand...at the end of the day they are a business. All the power to them for investing in such a good business!!!
If it's too expensive watch it at home...but just because you think the tickets are too expensive does not mean the people who buy them are idiots. Some people have that much money to spend and some are passionate enough to spend a good portion of their income to watch the game live.
Sports is considered a luxury ...so there is no such thing as ripping people off...if you like it, buy it. MLSE has no moral obligation to lower their ticket prices so that the average family can watch the game live. Don't get me wrong I wish they would because only then would I consider buying a ticket. But I'm just as happy watching on TV and cheering for them.
Your argument about not spending?? you do know there is a salary cap now rite?? and even when there wasn't one...you really want to see the leafs be like the Yankees??
Jay's management is no different from the Leafs'. The reason why they are not charging high ticket prices is because there isn't much interest. Any higher and the stands would be even more empty. In the past, they were basically handing out tickets for free...they actually stopped in the more recent years....why because ticket sales have begun to pick up and the top dog at rogers who replaced Ted is profit driven as well. He has to report to his shareholders to keep his position. When Ted was there...he owned the damm place...so he can throw money away and still maintain his position as CEO.
If you're gonna call me an idiot because I am a leafs fan...go ahead...but it's watching the team play hockey is what I only care about.

First time 4 - 0 in 17 years or something like that!
On the note of ticket prices, Yes they are expensive and to take a family to the game is pretty much like planning a trip to disney on the cost front...but all I ask is LOWER THE PRICE OF THE BEER!
