I have the 2.0L Mazda 3 (08.5 model) and am researching engine swaps.
I can't find anything on what other people have done (I guess the 3 doesn't get swaps often) :P

I am unsure of what needs to be compatible in the car to the new engine, so if anyone can shed some light it would be greatly appreciated :)

Here are a few engines I was looking at:

# RB20DET - twin-cam turbocharged (158 kW (215 PS) @ 6400 rpm, 265 N·m (27.0 kgf·m) @ 3200 rpm)

^^ it is the 2 liter inline 6 engine from the skyline (there are a few versions of the same engine)

I want to point out that it is unlikely that I will ever do/be able to afford an engine swap haha but I am still curious so lay down that information :)

Thanks a lot!!

do yourself a favor and buy a speed 3. I looked in to doing a swap and adding turbo and all that and at the end of the day the total was almost 20000$ This was pricing out a speed 3 engine, tranny, exhaust, turbo, engine/dash wiring harness, down time, car rental, front end (hood, hood scoop, bumper, fenders, fogs, misc nuts bolts and parts and paint) and all the other mishaps you are bound to run in to. Not to mention your insurance will go kookoo banannas because your car is now modified in a serious enough matter for them to care.

Kinda pointless considering the costs and the little issue that you can get a speed most likely for less than it would cost to get a regular mazda and then doing some sort of engine swap. More reliable as well...

So I seriously doubt you'll find anyone here who has done it.

the only reason why i would do an engine swap is if i want to drop in one of those cosworth tuned MZR N/A engines that cost like more than 10 grand ....
