Hey guys. Well, I want to put something over my FMIC pipe to stop it from rubbing on my rad hose, as it's getting pretty deep into the pipe. Fobio told me I should get a 2.5" silicone pipe coupler and hose clamp it onto the pipe on the spot it's rubbing, which I want to do. I just checked today if Part Source has them and they don't. I honestly have no clue where else to look, so I gave streetunit a message to see if they will sell it and for what price. Does anyone else know where I could find that size pipe coupler (preferably silicone) or do I have other options for protecting my IC pipe? Part Source also said they don't carry heat wrap anymore, either. Kinda wanted to wrap all the pipes, especially the one above the engine.

I'd say Garage16 should have silicon couplers. I ended up getting some from Teknotik when i was in desperate need for one

You can also try wrapping it with some hockey tape although rubber or silicone would be best.

Hockey tape would just wear out fast. It's rubbing pretty bad. When I installed the kit for the time being I put a couple pieces of thick plastic I cut out from plastic containers and wrapped them over the spot where it's worn into the pipe and wrapped it all up with red house sheathing tape.

Hey dude,

I have a few 2.5 vibrant couplers left over from my fmic that are still new sealed in the package. PM me if your interested.

Wow, didn't realize it was rubbing that bad.

Stupid question, are you sure there isn't any way to re-position the pipes to get more clearance where it rubs?

No dice, I tried that when I was fitting it. The pipe is basically wedged between the shrouding for the rad fan and another rubber hose that's there. When I installed it, it seemed like the rubbing had already gone about 1/2 way through the pipe. I'm getting a coupler from fast_dude on Friday, so I guess that solves my problem! Just going to pick up two 2.5" hose clamps from Part Source and put it on. Even if the pipe blows the coupler with hose clamps will keep it sealed, anyway.

Yea, one of the straight 2.5" ones. Dude's already selling one to me Friday, though.

I'm assuming you're talking about the rad hose near the intake? The one that runs against the hot pipe (Not the cold pipe going into the TB?). I've run into that problem because the bracket on the hot pipe that keeps the pipe in place (Secured against the front stud that would go to the TMIC) was welded at the wrong angle. Maybe replacing the pipe would be better in the long run? Or re-weld the bracket... If it's a CPE FMIC you can compare it to my good pipe and compare the bracket angle. I noticed when there is pressure against that hose, the heat in your car isn't as great. (IE: I keep the car at 22C and it's nice and warm, but now I have to run it up to 25-26C to get the same type of heat out of the vents--- Does this describe some of your symptoms? If so, it's probably just the bracket on the pipe).

Seems you're already getting a coupler, but I got all my stuff from http://www.siliconeintakes.com/

Do you have the CP-e kit? It comes with a new upper rad hose, doesn't rub at all. This is the cold pipe going into the TB that's the problem.

Yeah I never received the rad hose... I read about that recently. It doesn't rub with the right hot pipe in place (I have 2, 1 original and 1 original with the wrong angle on the bracket). I guess the replacement hose fixes one problem and creates another? :)

Edit: Have you tried waxing the cold pipe? =)

The replacement rad hose does not create a problem...it has nothing to do with my cold pipe rubbing on the very bottom of the rad fan shroud. It's the very bottom part just before the bend goes up on the pipe with the BPV flange.

I got another problem today, too. Got a CEL on the way to work somehow. Gotta check it out. It might be random misfire code since im at almost 112,000kms on the original spark plugs.
