I was checking my monthly spending. I counted how many times I fill up per month.
I am dumping close to $300. worth of regular gas, averaging 2000 kms monthly.
How much do you guys blow on gas every month ?

$300 bucks! Woah.. can't really compare with daily drivers, since I only use the car on the weekends, but I spend close to $80-$100 a month on a full tank (regular).
Yeah I only drive my car on the weekends as well. I generally just walk to campus. I'd estimate like $100-150 monthly on the high end.

We spend 240 a month on my car and 260 on my wifes for a grand total of....$500
I always pay on my credit card so I can keep track on what I spend on fuel... I average $300 to $400 a month
This is cheap compared to what I was spending on fuel in my truck

What we are not saying is if we buy reg or premium gas. My bill is on reg gas for both vehicles.

LOL.... 3-4 yrs ago when i was still dating my wife and seeing my folks back home in MTL every two weeks I was spending $600+/month on gas between my 93 Nissan Altima (beater) and my 99 Prelude. Not to mention the associated maintenance costs and insurance for the two cars. Needless to say all said and done it was the cost of a mortgage at the end of the month. I was doing oil changes every month. So sad...
The Mazda 3 has been a blessing in terms of fuel economy. the 2.SLOW engine sufficient to putz around in the city. Not the most fuel efficient but quite the difference compared to my two previous cars which both averaged about 10L/100kms.

I do about 550-600km per week on average which takes a single tank at about $50 per week... so $200 for 2,200-2,4400km for me although i just put my winters on and imagine that my economy will drop off. I fill up with 91 octane, and am driving an acura type s not a 3 which is why the numbers are different

I average $250-$300/month as well; kind of depressing. (2000-2500 KM per month.)
I'll average about $240-260/month. About 3000km/month. If I drove ONLY to work and back I could get away with one tank / week. Throw in a few stops after work and I have to fill up every 4 days. (about 5.5 times / month). Glad that Mazda has the 8000km oil change interval.

$300 for 2000km average of driving per month seems excessive. I have a 2010 GT as well, and I usually get 500km out of a tank before I do a fillup for about $50, which would work out to $100 less than what you're paying for the same amount of mileage. Either your fuel economy is horrendously worse than mine (lots of stop-and-go/bumper-to-bumper traffic/city driving or just a lead foot) or your gas is a lot more expensive (considering we're both around the TO area, that would mean you're filling up with 89 or 91 octane?)

In my truck that I drive mon-fri I average 190-210$ per week in a POS V6 2009 Dodge Dakota. I drive the car on weekends during the summer mostly. I fill it up once or twice per month.
I don't pay for gas in the work truck...or anything else. It's like making at least an extra 15,000$ a year when you factor everything in.

In my 3 alone, over the course of the 11 months I've owned I've probably averaged around $500 or so per month. Then include all the money I spend on gas for other vehicles ('69 Malibu - 94 Octane only, parents'/family's cars...etc.). If you include all vehicles I drive, I'm probably spending closer to $700/month on gas.
Yah, I do a shit-ton of driving (over 5k/month in just my 3 alone over the summer, probably another 5k+ in other vehicles and there were no roadtrips this summer except one trip to Algonquin to go backpacking which actually brought down my average because of how many days the car just sat parked).

Yeah, I remember years ago when I was there and gas was under $1/L here - watching the price zoom waaaay faster than the litres display. At the time it was about 3.46/L (about $1) which to me was not too bad but imagine the average joe spending 10% of their monthly salary to fill the tank once...

1. Fill up. Reset your trip meter. Drive drive drive. Fill up.
2. Divide the litres poured into the tank by the number of kilometres and multiply by 100.
3. Post here.

Yes, it would give you your L/100km. At this time of year, 8.6 is pretty good. At least it would be for me. It's been known that the info display will never be as accurate as doing it manually but it's a decent quick glance to see if anything might be wrong.

Best thing I find is getting the Canadian Tire rewards Mastercard. If you keep $2000 on it per month you get 10c off per liter. Just put all your large bills on it and it's not hard to get to that amount. I get to look at $1.13/L as $1.03/L :), the savings add up!

During a regular work month, I travel about 4000km's. You don't want to know about how much I spend on gas. I'll tell you anyway though, it averages around $600. All I have to say it thanks to Petro Canada for offering the 5cents off a liter cards and an extra 2 cents for paying with their Mastercard. I get Ultra 94 for 2 cents more than 89.
Now that I've been in school the last few months I was only about one tank every week and a half. When I'm back to work in April I'll be back up there.
