The new trend in the 3 section is users who join in the current month are welcoming people to TM3....
that's like landing in a foreign country and asking the immigration officer to see his passport...

no, not all the same.
Though from a Mazda Speed 6 it would work. As all Mazda AP's are cross functional.
Just ensure he unmarries it before selling to you.

it's v2 and v2b .... there was no v1 Cobb AP for the ms3/6.
v2 has a dongle to connect to the OBD2 port connected by a micro USB cable to the AP and dongle.
v2b has a OBD2 cable with a connector on the AP to plug the cable into.

I heard from somewhere that most newer cars won't even start if you change the cluster with the exact same one off another car, unless done by a dealer. Something with codes having to match in both the cluster and ecu and such things.

It's because of the odometer
Highly illegal to do this swap if you find somewhere that can do it

ECU data, wait 30 minutes and follow prompts on AP. Then drive a bit to learn new trims and voila, zoomzoomboom. :chuckle

Actually, now is a perfect time to get a baseline of your engine. Install the AP now then do a 3rd and a 4th gear log (assuming you've driven enough for the ECU to learn new trims). That way you'd know how the fuel pump is holding. If you install the AP, it does not necessarily mean you're going stage one right away or whatever. Stage 0 is stock map so you can run that for the time being.

remember to prime the fuel pump after you've installed it (obviously before you start the car)
load a stage 1 map, go drive around let the fuel trims settle and monitor the fuel pressure to see how its doing.

Ok BT Requirements
- AP
- HPFP
- turbo
- depending on turbo - manifold/EWG
- new mounting hardware
- oil lines
- intake + turbo inlet pipe - Depending on turbo, you may need a big 'un
- upgraded BPV
- upgraded intercooler
- downpipe - one piece or two
- injector seals
- one step colder plugs
- maintenance while the car is apart
- might as well get EGR delete (or unplug) + new gaskets (JBR)
- electronic boost controller
- TUNE TUNE TUNE
Other stuff
- mounts
- Overboost protection
- OCC
I'm sure there's stuff I missed........someone please add if I missed something.

always have the right answer! well i already have an extra turbo (thats the one I'm gonna send out) so once i swap the 2871 in, ill have the stock one as a back up! i got it all planned out ;)
so you'll have the 2871 and 2 stock turbos

Personally, I'd just get a GTX2871 and call it a day. Nothing wrong with the BNR solution, but having a spare turbo around is good insurance. Understand also that when you buy something from the manufacturer, like ATP, you also get the customer support that they offer to stand behind their products.
Overall, the cost of labour will be what I've quoted you already plus the extra time to assemble the turbo, install a meth kit and installing a clutch. One of the MSpeed guys will respond to you shortly.
The thing is, ppl are now buying $15K MS3's...if you dump another $15K on top and do it smartly, you can have a 400+whp bulletproof wagon sleeper for $30K. We can make it happen...lol...but for us guys who've bought it new, it's best to take advantage of the 0% financing and amortize your path to a full build over the next few years.
wish i went the used route.. but then again you never know if the car had been beatin on before.
apparently people have been having problems with ATP/garrett customer service

copper nuts and new studs
new turbo, manifold and downpipe gaskets
depending on how much boost you're running, upgraded MAP sensor
upgraded MAF possibly
oh and if you half ass it and blow up, it's good to have a whole other engine lying around waiting to be put in

At this point in the platform's development, the perceived need for BSD outweighs the benefits. At one point, the balance shaft was considered to be one of the culprits of causing undue stress on cylinder 3...the one that is most likely to go in almost all blown engines. Having deleted my balance shaft, and having seen what really goes into weakening cylinder 3 in several instances, I can safely say that at this point, with the depth of tuning access we now have with the engine, the balance shaft is the least of one's concern in prolonging engine life. Furthermore, as Mr Wilson alluded to, the extra vibes might be off putting to some.
To the enthusiast tho, the BSD presents another dimension to the car that is missed by those of us who grew up with more "raw" cars. With the BSD, the engine revs more freely and drop revs in stop 'n go traffic in a more predictable manner, which CAN further alleviate stop'n go lurching in the lower gears. As such, I feel it's more natural but this can be totally disregarded as my personal preference. The vibes, which are of the 2nd order, are only felt mostly when you engine brake...and those of us who engine brake would enjoy every feedback our machines give us and it's not of an offensive kind of vibe that'd lose a date.
The BSD requires removal of the oil pan. Be cautious of the associated risks of exposing the bottom of your engine, while keeping in mind the need to reform a proper gasket upon reinstallation.
Mr Wilson

as Vince said, it's with, just the way he wrote it.
remember BSD is balance shaft delete, therefore reads, "with the balance shaft deleted, the engine revs more freely"
Mr Wilson
11-02-2012, 06:18 PM
It only took reading 8 times (apparently I have dyslexia or a comprehension issues or just need to slow down) to get it. I figured with the BSD it would do the above.....but for some reason my brain was reversing it.

This is how I propose we tackle your boosted furnace.
Explanation provided below.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7112/8161428599_7c6df0c763_b.jpg
Furnace
Once we force feed your furnace with boost, it'll get pissed off (see image of furnace gritting teeth) and produce all sorts of heat we can harness to warm your house AND your water. Green folks, take note. You can make power AND save the planet.
So much heat will radiate from this furnace that if we were to turn it up to full power, we could flash cook 4 cows on each floor in under 30 seconds. Nelly would be proud.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/50/Nelly_-_Hot_in_Herre_CD_cover.jpg
Outside, heat will emanate from Loki's house as if it were Goku powering up to Super Saiyan and warm 3 city blocks in the coldest of winters. Green folks, take note once more. Surrounding residents won't need to run their furnaces once we get this guy online.
http://www.allthetests.com/quiz25/picture/pic_1216273551_9.jpg
Intake
HTP 4" intake. Good for over 600hp mated to a black cone style AEM filter. We don't want to look too ricey here with red or blue filter elements; understated looks go a long way.
The screen in front of the mass airflow sensor acts as an airflow straightener and a barrier to prevent babies from getting sucked in. We don't advise you bring your babies to view this monster setup as you won't walk out of the room with your bundle of joy in your arms. Boyracer, this one is for you; Girlracer should stay at home.
Men, I know what you're thinking. Pornstar member if you get close enough. No, no, no and no! Unless you want your junk to resemble an over stretched piece of bubble gum, I don't recommend it.
Turbo
After wiping off the year old cobwebs, the GT3071 should be good to go. Its efficient up to ~450hp but we're not here to make wimpy power; we'll crank this bish to the low 500s. At this point, this turbo has spent more time near the furnace than it has in a car so I expect it would exhibit symptoms of Stockholm Syndrome if we were to put it in Loki's Speed.
I know what you're thinking, Fast_Dude: Faaaaaaaccckkk!
Think this setup couldn't get any greener? Think again. The turbo CHRA is cooled with house water. Cold water comes in, hot water comes out. No need for an additional fossil fuel burning, ozone depleting, baby bird killing hot water tank. Green y0!
http://blueway.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/eco_friendly.gif
Catalytic Converter
Affectionately dubbed "Meow" because we call it a "cat". We don't need to run two cats in this setup since this runs so green, flowers and sunshine already comes out the loud as f**k Cherry Bomb Exhaust.
Exhaust
The mother of all loud @$$ axleback exhausts. Statements are made when your exhaust sounds like the starting line of a NASCAR event. Nuff said.
Intercooler
30+ PSI needs an intercooler. I suggest running the Treadstone TR1245 which is good for 860hp. This 12.5" X 22" X 4.5" core will cool the intake charge to below ambient temperatures with the imbued pixie dust and unicorn fluids.
CelestSpeed3 will be jealous at the size of this mother and will likely fit this unit on his pu by tomorrow.
Blow Off Valve
We don't recirculate our boost, we vent that hoe to the atmosphere. We don't suggest standing in the same room with this thing goes off. The pressure change will be so great that when ambient pressure returns to normal, you'll die from the bends.
Pacifier
Pacifiers keep babies from crying and furnaces from killing.
Meth Injection
Soon to be added to the pile of car parts near Loki's furnace. Might as well put it to use and cool the intake charge below freezing. The highly sophisticated drinking bird will hit the toggle button at precise intervals to cool the intake charge and prevent the furnace from blowing up from detonation.
Furnace Management System
The COBB Furnace Management System is still in Beta. Should it prove to be successful, COBB will release it to the public and all beta testers will get a cut of the profits. We can assure you, we'll get it to target the proper AFR.
Not pictured here is the COBB THERMOStat made of unobtainium and recycled pink fog LEDs.

Green y0!
