Just take it easy on the pedal? I rarely need to go WOT just to pass someone or in everyday driving.

Over boosting or over loading is more of a reason to detune in the winter time.

True enough...more to save a bit of fuel/money by running 91 since there's no need for the extra go...and just to save some wear and tear on the engine/turbo. I'm running a hybrid tune anyway, so overboost/overload shouldn't be an issue.

It sounds like a lot but it has zero to do with the time or effort that it takes.
The reason that it is "married" to a vehicle is so that everyone buys their own and Cobb can stay in business.
If it was $100, we would all have split on one, tuned our car, and given it to someone else. Or one person would have bought one and charged everyone to tune their car, where the individual would be making money as a small business, yet Cobb would not.
If they don't make sales, we won't get any support.

Think about the $300 as a licensing fee as opposed to unmarrying (divorcing).
They have to keep the lights on somehow. Lets say an AP costs $700, you are paying $400 for the hardware and $300 per vehicle for the ability to use it. Like a software key, you can have the physical discs but without the licensing key, you are drastically limited as to what you can do with it.

Side note, I have dealt with Cobb twice with my AP and their customer service/tech support is awesome and cheap.
Incident 1: after plugging and unplugging and leaving my AccessPORT. In the car and my passengers not being careful, the connector broke. I called and did the RMA procedure, fully thinking it would cost quite a bit to crack it open and replace. They called me back the next day after receiving it, asking for $20 so they could ship it back with tracking and insurance. Actual cost of the shipping was $21.87 US. They actually lost money on the shipping.
Incident 2: My AP went blank, it wouldn't power up. Together with tech support on the line, we went through a few things to try and determine the problem. Together we figured it wasn't dead but the screen wasn't getting power. That's already decent service, then the tech went above and beyond, he took the time to help me draw a map of button pushes to get to what I wanted to on the AP before I sent it in. I then did the whole RMA procedure, which is painless. They replaced the LCD and I had it back in two weeks from the time I put it in the mail. I did not have a proof of purchase as I purchased it used. I was able to get a hold of the original owner and determine roughly when it was purchased. According to the original owner, it was determined that the unit was still within the warranty period. On my word, with zero proof, they replaced the LCD screen and paid return shipping to me.
Incident 2 occurred before 1. Your results may vary but their customer service is top notch in my books and they also informed me that 99% of all repairs to an AP are under $100 USD.

At the end of the day, it sucks big fat hairy donkey balls if the seller told you it was unlocked when it wasn't. It even sucks if it's your fault for not reading the thread but if that's the case, you can't really expect the seller to accept a return. Either way, I hope everything works out, and happy tuning. You'll love it, once you're all sorted out.

Air ratchet is definitely better but you don't always have a compressor with you.
Definitely no torque but it may be decent for getting from just barely threaded on, to hand tight and then use it like a normal ratchet to snug

If its over $10, I don't think I could justify it though, regardless of quality, nice that they use metal gears though. Should last for ever since you can't put much tq through the twisting motion and you would just use a proper ratchet when you don't need the jerk off twist

My stock battery would have been. Even after two days in a 20 degree garage you'd notice starting was more difficult. Changed it this week after it struggled on a cold day after work.

Nah. Spool is affected by turbo and hotside selection and tuning.

The HTP 4" intake is also a very nice unit.
