mount it wherever you want, as long as you have enough line, and you can mount the pump relatively close.

or you could just tap the stock tank

The warm weather is upon us and I'm sure many of you have parts that you have been waiting to install.

I have charcoal BBQ, ill have some hotdogs or something.

I'd like to see some new faces, as well as the usuals.

PM me for address. I have spots for 2 in the driveway and then a small parking lot directly in front of the house.

AS WELL: Snotrocket; is dropping in his built motor this weekend in peterborough. PM him and drop by to lend a hand

just an FYI: if you are new and have parts to install, you do the install yourself. We will be there for guidance and to lend a hand, not do all the work for you.

Anyone want a 3'' Custom exhaust with a resonator on it (Gen2)? I am changing my set up as soon as I order something because I need something that is quieter on cold starts... good bye long tax return money... I am willing to sell the custom set up for a good price you would just have to get someone to install it as it will have to be cut at the axel to remove but can be rewelded and installed easily.

lol ohhh loki... because it's pretty much straight pipes (the resonator does very little except get rid of the rasp) it's really loud on cold starts. My stock exhaust didn't pop as much as this one does in the morning. I need a muffler and resonator to get sound I want and the shop can only fit a 2.5'' muffler instead of a 3'' so I have to look at other set ups.

Not sure how that works for pushing the has on startup but I found a solution instead of getting a whole new exhaust but it's still gonna take some work to do.

I found the same style muffler that the Magnaflow MS3 exhaust uses but sold separately as a Camaro/Firebird muffler. It still keep the 3'' piping then goes into 2x2.5'' openings so I will still have the flow I want for the few extra HP and less WGDC. We'll see how it sounds on monday when I get this all sorted out.

I should have went Cp-e eh Mr.Wilson? :P

That's what I do, not because of the noise, but because the car struggles with the ported IM. Push the gas pedal in like 5%-10% and then start the car, it'll rev to about 3K rpm and then drop to idle rpm. I let it warm up a little longer when I do this though.

I am going to have to try it today after work if my car gets cold enough after sitting this afternoon, if not I will try it tomorrow morning. If it keeps it quiet through the week I am good. After thinking about it for a while I need to have a muffler to pass inspections/emissions down the road so getting a muffler put on now just saves me time later on. So it's not a complete loss, probably spent less money than a cobb exhaust still lol...

Thanks for all the tips guys :)

pwdunmore
05-08-2013, 03:49 PM
Ya it looks like there are no emissions regulations about a muffler but safety/law states you need to have an operational muffler on the exhaust, so straight pipes with a resonator is not quite meeting that requirement.

Just looking out for the future, gonna have to do it sooner or later so why not now. I wouldn't be able to sell the car without one either or have a really hard time finding a buyer.

standsideways

No emissions test facility is going to get under your car and check the exhaust system out, ESPECIALLY with the new system being in place, check the OBD2 for emissions codes. Done...IIRC it does not roll on the dyne anymore..

And they cant say "thats a resonator not a muffler" so it doesnt matter.

Hi guys,

I'm a new 2013 black MS3 owner. I love the car so far but got a few questions.

I noticed in some pics that there is a blue footwell lighting, similar to the ones that are lit up by the gearbox and door handles. How come my car doesn't have that on the footwell? Is that a removed feature for the 2013 model year or it's an added accessory that you need to buy?

No cats should work as along as the system shows as ready, so having one of those O2 stems might do the trick.

The footwell lighting was taken out of later model MS3's(2012 and on, I think... Mine didn't come with it either so I am assuming 2012's maybe 2011's too). You can have them put in still but you need to buy the kit or DIY.

OHHH and I tried to cold start with the gas pedal down a tiny bit... worked like a charm! I wonder why that over rides the normal cold start process the MS3 uses. All I got was one loud pop this morning and then the rpms settled. Thanks for the tip guys :)

Yup just saw those things you mentioned on the Options & Accessories page as a add-on from the website.

I wonder how many things were removed. It's too bad because later models should be getting more things on it, especially how 2013 is the final model year for this current generation. Doesn't seem fair and I believe the MSRP is higher for 2013 model too.

Just not sure the FMIC is worth it since I have the Cp-e TMIC already which flows great, it just gets heat soaked after a while but I would think the meth would cool things down a fair bit anyways.

Just curious if anyone was ever made the switch from TMIC to FMIC with methanol injection and it made a difference with the stock turbo.

I was thinking about getting the CX racing FMIC piping kit with a TR6 intercooler which wouldn't break the bank then selling my Cp-e TMIC which would make up for some of the difference in cash.

The thing is with your build is that you need that FMIC if you are going to produce all the extra power and heat, it would heat soak a TMIC in no time without meth.

It cools off to an extent but it still remains warm, even when moving the TMIC will be warmer from the heat of the exhaust gases so even with Meth the charge will still be a little heated up compared to a FMIC.

I was just curious where the tipping point for BAT's, the cooler the charge the more dense so it makes more power but at what point does that temperature not matter anymore because the air is already as dense as it can get (similar with all fluids).

From what I have read of MSF: TMIC + Meth ~ ambient air temperature so FMIC + Meth ~ cooler then ambient?

I guess I will ask the tooners on MSF to see if benefits outweigh the cost.

You can't pressurize air to that extent and have it cooler than ambient. Even with meth.

I know lol... I am not a noob at this point. I just like to hear what people have to say about the mods they have or have done. (That being the FMIC's)

One thing I can definately comment on is the OTS stratified maps are better than the OTS cobb maps, the butt dyno can feel it.

And I will look into JPG Exhaust, thanks guys.

I know a guy running BT w/ TMIC and meth and is making decent power.

PS - You have more options with the TMIC when it comes to tapping the nozzle. With the FMIC, you basically have to weld a bung.

I was at the drag strip.. Tried everything.. DSC on was a disaster. Feathering the clutch helped a bit but I'd hop at the end of 1st and hop again shifting into 2nd.

Best I could run was a 13.7(Full stage 2 OTS) with abysmal 60' times of 2.2-2.4. I was trapping anywhere from 104-106mph.

Wheel hop is just going to be replaced with wheel spin if you go with a full set of mounts.
Better rubber will help if you can keep them from letting go.
Ditch the OTS tune with something that is more linear and enable LC and FFS.

I was running at a 2900RPM LC the whole time and FFS at 6700RPM.. My last few runs I switched to map without LC and FFC enabled.. Still ran a 13.7

I'd honestly rather have wheelspin than the violent wheel hop I was experiencing today... It's weird, the wheel hop came along with my DP.. Never experienced wheel hop before the DP.

I'll definitely need a good tune..

I thought I'd run better times than 13.7 with my mods (SRI, TIH, TBE, FMIC, HPFP, OTS stage 2). Looks like this is where the drivetrain/suspension mods come into play.

SomeGuy
06-08-2013, 01:48 AM
FFS at 6700RPM is too high...that's essentially redline, you want it closer to where the revs end up after the shift.

With the downpipe and going to the stage 2 maps you gain a substantial amount of power...wheel spin in 2nd is more possible.

Interestingly enough I'm around the same level of mods (see sig) and so long as the surface isn't wet, I don't get wheel hop at all even though I can easily break loose in 2nd from a roll and occasionally see the traction control light flash in 3rd on dry pave. Mind you this isn't on a drag strip but this is without any suspension mods that will help and just a soft RMM and good tires (even the stock dunlops I didn't have issues with wheel hop though).

Nino
06-08-2013, 01:55 AM
Interesting.. Is there any reason as to why you went with a soft RMM? How harsh is it? I'm on stock mounts due to long commutes but I'm really considering upgrading.

I have a set of coilovers sitting in the garage which will probably help out.

SomeGuy
06-08-2013, 02:01 AM
It's just a 60 duro but still WAY better than the stock RMM. I went with the softer one because it's my daily driver and didn't want it to be too annoying. After a week or two you don't even notice the vibes or they're basically all gone. Definitely worth while and given you're already stage 2 your exhaust setup is far more annoying than the RMM would ever be. The cp-e stage 2 mount is supposed to be even better.
