we bought a Gen1 cuz eventho it;s the same layout, yet, we're designed to be efficiently cooled by ducts from the nose to cool the intercooler WITHOUT some ricer hood scoop...

then you (or a subie) throws on a FMIC and that hood scoop is as useful as a second anal evac hole.

if you want to project a sense of tHe Fastz with your MS3, having a hood scoop right away tells ppl your balls aren't big enough to go FMIC, and that you're worried about ppl know that, so you cover that fact up with a ricer hood scoop...lol...

Ya after talking to Jimmy the way he was telling me about it seemed as an almost "requirement" just to keep engine temps down and listening to the horror stories seemed worth investing the $250-300.00 but that's long down the road for me. On another note I'd recommend getting the denso plugs when your running the dp, tmic stage easy since your taking the intercooler off anyways.


meth kit/install is more in the $750 - $1000 range, just so you know.

and you will have to run at least the 1-step colder plugs come summer, possibly even 2 step colder. You can most likely get away with the stock plugs during the winter months with the colder temps outside.

i'm running stock plugs with TMIC, DP, HPFP and am tuned accordingly (i.e. appropriate AFR and timing for stock plugs)

#2) You mentioned somewhere that they did a head-to-head of the EFR760 vs. GTX3076 and the GTX smoked it in airflow/hp (with the same turbine housings).

There's something in particular, that ppl on the forums never understood, that the NATOR boys always understood...and this was shared clearly at our first gathering/seminar.

The car has had a tough go in the beginning....ppl blowing up left right and centre...Mazda3 guys bash on us, cuz they think we're condescending...power guys bash on us cuz we can't go past 300whp without blowing up. When the forums and internets is filled with this bullshit, and compounding that problem with noobs upon noobs running to jump off the cliff like lemmings, it completely destroys our image...not that it matters but the following does:

If our forums are filled with noobish 2nd and 3rd hand owners who just throw on parts...just cuz some guy told them to and they blow up and post all over the ****ing internet about it, our resale value will suffer. Furthermore, there's so much misinformation out there, that guys, like yourself may resort to and settle for "being told what to mod".

having said all of that, I will again press the point, that the NATOR boys, along with MSpeed is here to help those who are capable of seeking us out. we want you to go fast, cuz it looks good on the rest of us and we don't want your car to blow up, cuz it looks bad for the rest of us.

Full disclosure: I have spent alot of time myself reading on msf, learning, and would not put myself at the same level as vincent, dave, neil. I love our cars, I love the NATOR idea, i love what mspeed is doing for toronto, i love working on my own car and i love helping others save money, and do the work themselves as well

Fobio...I'm doing my best to learn, reading and researching but trying to sort the wheat from the chaff is quite difficult given the amount of miss-information on the internet as you've pointed out. When it comes to plugs, I understand why I might need them but nothing as far as I could find says when they're needed explicitly. If there were something I could monitor for it or a given mod level (ie you have a downpipe AND intercooler upgrade) or tune parameter (targeting xx PSI) that once reached means they're required, than I'm all ears. The flip side of things is that obviously up to a certain point the stock plugs are better and I'd hate to do them too soon and screw things up anyway.

The last thing I want is to meet the dreaded zoom-zoom boom...and I've gotten the whole need a fuel pump due to the fueling logic and what happens when pressure drops and when that happens and how to monitor it. But the further into stage 2 I get, the more unclear things become when it involves plugs/meth/etc.

I don't want to sound like a dick by saying this but respect the work other have put in before you. Be happy that people did put in the work before you. I don't want to re-tell the story of my Mazda6 and how I had to do everything on my own. Guess what shit breaks and you have to deal with it. I spend hours and hours reading MSF, TM3, M247, MR, all the forums. If you see what others do you will learn to understand why they did what they did in most cases. You mentioned monitoring for what type of spare plugs you are using. Well read up on spark plugs, not just on the mazda forums all the forums on every car. I for one an happy that others have blazed the trail before me, and I'm very respectful of that, because I was in there shoes once. This is why some people get pissed at the attitudes of others (not trying to single you out, you are by far not bad). Bottom line is if you personally don't understand what/when/why/how of modding your car don't do it.
