Was my first time at TMP on Sunday and the only change would be working on better lines there for myself while becoming more familiar with that track. Definitely have some cobwebs to shake off.
I chewed through my DBA4000 rotors on all 4 corners and will be going to some OEM blanks as it is cheaper to change out the OEMs if they get chewed out again.
The one other thing that I am contemplating is cutting my losses and getting another set of tires in a 235/40/17 size....it's not fun having to hammer the fender lip full flush to stop it from gouging the sidewall of a tire with such a tall sidewall and a width that's really 255.

Just get a proper sided wheel and tire. We can test fit mine on your car. When the fender roller gets here I will make them fit.
Edit: How does the transponder mount to the car on the plate bracket?

the mounting bracket for the MyLaps has provisions for zip ties.
there's no more roll left on the rears.... both sides were ghetto rolled with a hammer :chuckle
there's one option left before ditching the 17x8 +40 with the 245/45 balloons ...and that's a proper alignment with some more -ve camber in the rear.

245/45-17 are really tall and are harder to fit then my 255/40-17.
I wanted to run 275 up front but I will have to remove to much shit. So looks like I'm staying at 255's which is still lots of rubber.

Just installed a JBR ssp (ver 1). Like a 40% reduction in throw length, but the feel is a bit notchier than before. Guess I might have to look into adjusting the cables or whatever they're talking about on msf. Also, with the SSP installed, you can really appreciate the need for solid shifter bushings so you can get positive feedback when putting the shifter in gear (especially from 3rd to 4th).

mines fine. that sickening sound i think is my pads, both stock pads have clips, one holds the pad to the piston, the other holds the pad on the other side of the caliper. The HP+ pads dont have a clip for the pad resting on the piston. The fit of the pads wasnt super tight so i think its the rotor catching the pad and clanking it around.
My tmm looks like shit but hasnt self destructed

Guys, not sure if this is tune related, but I've been getting some sort of hesitation when I first open her up. The car just jerks a couple of times and then it's fine.
It's only happened twice so far. Both times in 2nd gear at around 4K rpm at around 65%-80% throttle. Also, both times it was after making a left turn, but I only open it up after the car has straightened out. I tried to reproduce it right after it happens, but then the cars fine afterwards. Any idea what it is?
I'll try to get a log of this.
Thanks guys.

2nd gear at 4k can break the tires loose even in a stock car sometimes so it wouldn't surprise me. Plus the coming out of a corner...might take a second before the SWAS boost cut is lifted. That said logs of it would help hugely, you'll be able to see what is causing the hesitation (boost, knock, etc)

Boost cut during corner exit accel untill wheel is completely straight then boost shoots up.
My boost is limited to 10psi in 1st and 14psi in 2nd. Wheels weren't spinning like mad, but could potentially be SWAS.
@Fack_Dude, I have no plans to disconnect my SWAS. In Soviet Russia, the car drives you.

Blaming swas as a culprit is misleading and self defeating ESP when the tune isn't complete. But you know whatever floats your boat and make you feel better.
I drive Paul's car at the track. In 3rd I didn't feel any issue with swas. Yeah me driving a car I've tuned. Food for thought. ESP for the guys under 300/350...

lol huh? Im your target today?
anyways, im going to be splicing in a switch to turn off swas. I personally felt like the car was intervening when i came out of a corner. I had enough grip to lay on the power pretty soon, and yet the car was being held back. I thought it was pretty noticable, and at cayuga most of the track was run in 3rd gear with a couple stints in 4th.
doesnt make me feel better saying that, everyone is interjecting their opinion as to what it could be, and it sounds similar to what ive experience with the poo. I never felt the same intervention with my won
edit: at the same time, i am not running a complete tune as well.....

How ppl interpret what I post doesn't concern me much.
Edit. I wouldn't know why you'd think that Alex. ESP since you weren't the first guy to make that comment. Fwiw I wasn't expecting even you to jump on that swas bandwagon. But seeing as even you are mislead into thinking so I felt the need to step in. I wouldn't give a flying **** for some bitch's ignorance.

I feel like I'm reading a Pee-Wee Herman script and SWAS is the word of the day.
SWAS has nothing to do with your car driving like crap coming out of a corner. My car can put down some decent torque and it didn't effect me at the track. Why, because my tires could hold it. The ESP will do its best to keep you in control. Disabling it is not a good idea.
I ran into other issues at the track, such as my LSD not being able to lock on corner exit.
Before you guys starts SWASing this and that, get a proper load tune please.
fywdyl
05-25-2012, 10:19 AM
Looks like I opened up a can of worms by accident...
Just to clarify a few things...
- My tune is finalized.
- I have set load limits by gear in my tune, but I'm not even sure if they're working properly.
- I didn't mean to imply it has anything to do with SWAS, I'm just wondering if it's hardware related or tune related, because this hasn't happened before.
- When it did happen, it feels like how it felt when I had the stock FP and the FP was crapping out.
- It does NOT happen coming right out of a corner, my car is straight.
- I have yet to reproduce it, so it might have been heaksoak or something small like that.
Unfortunately, I didn't get a log, but if I did, I prob would've figured it out.
Anyway, looking forward to Sunday, it's gonna be awesome!
Edit: Thanks Fobio and Celest. I know your intention is to look out for noobs like me and to clarify that sometimes the info on the interwebz may not be correct.

We can do this...
http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/17nq7a7tfq9xkjpg/xlarge.jpg
What you gotta do: Turbochargers are an excellent cooking tool, as they are heated up by the engine's exhaust gas, but they don't release any of those pesky toxic chemicals that health nuts hate. Toss a can of chili on there and, complimented by some wrapped hot dogs, you have a delicious meal.
As you've seen before, Chili can be cooked on the turbo. But there is more to a good meal. Start by wrapping some hot dogs (good ones like Hebrew Nationals, or Nathans) in foil.
Stick these between the injector and the valve cover (this holds 5 dogs). Then wrap hot dog buns in foil and stick them between the injection pump and the block (this holds 2 buns).
You can put more buns on the oil filter and on the intake, just make sure they don't get too hot. Drive for 30 min, and then pull everything off the engine, and you have Chili Dogs!
Grate some cheese if you'd like to be fancy! best part of this is all the food is pre-cooked so even if you get hungry before it's done, as long as it's hot you'll enjoy it.

Due to the recent success thru the Ultra94 push, along with our efforts with the 300 car epic pic, there will be a influx of newbs. It is a sign that our efforts to grow at the club "thru strength" when we are strongest, rather than push for membership when the club is waning/dying, is working and members are excited to be part of TM3. Be nice to these human beings, and allow them a bit more leaway than we give the regular village idiots. Keep the humour positive and help keep the load light for Ami and the Mod Team while they carry out the BubbaQ and help us make a big push for the 300 car epic pic.

I can cut the rear bumper support and make it fit, but like I said I think your tire is too tall. Either way after I cur the support it will likely never rub again. There won't ne anything left to rub.

No money. I can't even replace the blown OEM one in the near future. I'll probably have to wait til July or August sometime. Until then my car will be rocking back and forth and up and down on the rear over any bumps on the right side.
I'm going to try and get an OEM replacement at the same time I do my oil, which I'll also need to rotate my tires. Would make for some decent enough work on an install day.

I understand money is tight. However, I would look at a non OEM solution. Given the rate at which you have replaced shocks, maybe try and keep an eye out for used Koni Yellows..or even a used coil over set.

05-25-2012, 11:51 PM
If I waited for that, at the prices these used things go for, I'll probably still be on a busted shock til next spring. I'd rather just pay the $140 when I get it for OEM. There are many, many other things going on right now that are much more important than modding my car. Like my maxed out line of credit and my credit card that is creeping back up now that work has been slow for a month and a half and will continue to be slow for a month or so to name a couple. No aftermarket option will be considered unless it will cost less than a single brand new OEM shock.

Lol, not selling the car, that would just be stupid at this point. I'll be fine once work picks up again, which is going to be soon. Plus I only have just over a year left to pay it off finally. My line of credit isn't huge and unmanageable, either, I just hate owing anything to anyone, so it will get dealt with first. I really shouldn't have to explain myself online to anyone lol. I was making great money until I did the "one step back for two steps forward" thing a couple years ago when I joined local 675 for an apprenticeship and took a huge pay cut from my last job. I have since surpassed my last job's pay by about $100 take home a week and am soon due for another raise, but it's just hat to play catch up.
And as for being a "baller", I live at home and I bought a cheap bike that's cheap to insure. I know several young people who have much more than me. Like a 22 year old fire fighter I rode with earlier this year who has a 600cc supersport and brand new bmw 335 and his own place. Insurance on his bike alone would be in the $6-7k a year range.

Update on the JBR short shift plate I installed a week ago or so. I worked some lithium grease (dielectric grease) under the ball-joint cap shortly after I installed it, then drove it around to break the plate in/work the grease in. I'm not sure if the grease helped, or if the plate needed to be broken in or what, but much of the notchiness has gone away and now I cannot imagine ever going back to the stock shift lengths. All I needs now are those solid shifter bushings and what was once adequate will become second nature.
tl;dr = fack the stock shifter length and especially fack those rubber shifter bushings.

Vacuum line is 1/4" (6mm) isn't it? I'm reading different things... Although 1/4" sounds a bit more standard than 4mm and 5mm....

problem is some BPV's uses a different fitting than the OEM. It may be worthwhile to also have a bit of different sizes if you need "widen" a smaller fitting to use 1 hose.

If you could grab me one for my Guardian Angel that would be awesome.

Better get one more, so I have one for my meth kit down the road.
Vibrant sells a vacuum hose kit. You can get it from JRP or any where that sells Vibrant hoses. It's over priced tho ;)
eBay is a good source for hoses... The nice thing about the Vibrant hoses is that they don't look like they'll ever get brittle and crack over time.
Gonna stop by Princess Auto for some Add A Circuits myself...

I didn't end up going... cuz it's too damn far to search for a part that they're "not sure" about...
Would the mini add-a-circuit work?

What do you guys have to say about BNR stg3? Straight bolton and its$1100 and perfect for DD from what i've read. Can hopefully break 350whp with 94 octane + meth.
Really good reviews everywhere but some people have said it's kinda not worth it for like 40whp.
If I go bigger I'm gonna have to ewg, bc, fmic, mani, dyno tune and retunes everytime something ****s up... i dont know if I really want to deal with all that and drop 3K.
Comments?
FWIW I plan on getting something bigger and hopefully forged one day but as of right now since I can't even fathom to afford it is bnr stg 3 worth it?

It's a frankenstein turbo. I would go with the new gtx2871 that offers fast spool with hp gains up to 350.

Keeping in mind it only has low to mid quality stuff (you're not buying matco/snapon etc) for the most part it's a great store. I'm there a couple times a month or so picking sale stuff or speciality tools that you can't find at your typical canadian tire type stores.

Yeah its funny cause im looking at those now as well and from what I've read S3 spools a little slow, you're probably right I should go with the GTX2871.

I went to the Princess Auto by the airport. They have both the mini and the reg size add-a-circuit's for $8.99. I bought 8. I got to the cash register and told them it was on sale. She said it wasn't that one... I pointed out that both are the same price. She told me "I would normally have to call a price check, but I'll adjust the price for you". Bam. $2 savings ea. :)
Edit: I picked up a flyer on the way in and found the item on sale, which helped argue my case....
Edit2: Both the poo and the won have mini fuses... Speaking of which, I should make sure that my car takes mini fuses hahah...

Don't waste your money.. Pick up an ATP turbo, better gains and it's all bolt on. Try to find a used one with a little love and you can get them for about the same price. All you need to add is a big inlet and you're good. Eventually, you upgrade to a better EBC, etc etc. Best option if you aren't shooting for an easy 400+ whp.

Guys, this is from a genpu.
Somehow he managed to get the Add-a-circuit to work... What's that red/orange thing that it's plugged into?

edit: Just saw Jerry's post... the gen1 takes mini fuses, the gen2 takes low profile mini fuses.

Dude that's just a mini add-a-circuit. They have regular sized ones and minis... The 3's all use minis (MAybe all recent Mazda's do, I don't know).
You just need the proper add-a-circuit. I had the same one as in your picture on my MS3... The way it works is:
1) You remove a fuse from your box (Find one that fits the profile your device needs. IE: Switched or constant)
2) Plug that removed fuse into the add-a-circuit. Usually the spot closest to the fuse box. IE: The first spot after the prongs.
3) Add a new fuse, of lesser capacity, to the second slot. This is usually the slot inline with the wire. This is your new circuit
4) Plug the wire into your new device
5) ground your device
6) ???
7) Profit
Edit: The orange fuse is the fuse controlling your new circuit. The red fuse, which is barely visible, controls the entire device. If that blows, your accessory in the car stops working AND your new circuit stops working. The orange fuse blowing just takes out your device. Make sure you use proper sized fuses...
Edit: Holy shit, just saw your update... low-profile mini fuses... that's so bad ass. I'm glad they keep reducing the size of those things. You may need to resort to eBay. --- You should check your engine bay, maybe it still uses regular mini's...

I'll try to convince Jimmy to figure it out :P
edit: OH!!! I think I understand what you're saying! The low profile mini will also fit into the mini and vice versa!

Hah, actually, ignore most of what I said. I didn't even know low-profile mini fuses existed until just now! I thought you guys were talking about discovering mini fuses vs regular fuses... and in Alex's case, I was surprised since he had mini fuses in his GenWon. :)
I did a bit more research and apparently mini-fuses and low-profile fuses share a similar form factor, and some people have stuck a mini-fuse into a low profile-mini fuse socket, but it sticks out a bit..but it works. Would I use that? Nope... doesn't sound safe!
But, apparently this company makes low profile add-a-circuits: http://www.optifuse.com/holders_inline_minilowauto.php

I have no idea what type of fuse is in the won
if the mini add a circuit fits into the low profile mini fuse slot, i wouldnt have a problem with it if the only difference was that it sat up a bit. If it was loose, then that would be a different story. Pressure fit and loose do no bode will, you will constantly blow the fuse by the connection arcing or you might even burn up the wires

Just get some ring terminals and an inline fuse holder and do it right. Not to mention its cheaper.

Something like this? I guess for connecting directly to the battery correct?
