Hi all,

So I've been searching the forum for this answer for weeks and I haven't been able to find anything conclusive on this set of questions, perhaps one of you guys (or gals) can help me. We all know that the Bose systems in the MS3 is lacking especially in the bottom end, what I am trying to determine is the following?

1) Can you add an aftermarket amp to the factory system (I know about line level adapters) and just direct the additional power to the Bose subwoofer in the spare tire well, EASILY? In conjunction with this question, what is the size of the subwoofer in that spare tire module?

2) If that isn't possible easily. Does anyone have any recommedations on a small amp and shallow depth sub combination that they would recommend? I'm just looking for a little more bottom end (say 100w RMS) to a single sub that I can build into the sapre tire well replacing the Bose sub. I've already done the killer SPL, hear me from three blocks away setups and I don't want that again:good night smiley. I also don't really want to replace all the speakers in the car either.

Thanks for all the suggestions in advance.

I PM'd Audio Heaven awhile back asking if they could install my old Infinity aluminum 12" DVC sub in a custom box (fiberglass?) in my spare tire well, and wire it up with another one of my old uber SQL PPI amps. Quoted me about $500 for the custom install. (I wanted everything hidden and the hatch area uncluttered).

I think JL Audio also makes a stealthbox with a 10" W3 in it. Lastly, if I recall correctly, there was also a GB for someone making custom boxes a few months ago.

Horto, thanks. I'll check with Audio Heaven, that's the setup I'm looking for. I found that GB for the box that fits in the jack area, but they haven't made a box for a 10" sub yet (to my knowledge) and there has been no confirmation that the 04-09 box fits in the 2010. It defintely is something I'd consider though. I'm going to check for that JL box, is it Mazda specific?

Anyone else with recommnedations?

The 2010s will not be interchangeable for the jackstand stealthbox. Molds for the 2010s are in the works, as are 10" boxes.

This is the JL Audio solution for the 2010 hatch. http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_stealthbox_detail.php?fit_id=1655

I'm considering it as well.

I think that clearly, the best option is a full custom install with clear plexi floorboards showcasing floating amps and a whole lot of cold cathode tubes :)

^^I looked on their site and I didn't see it anywhere, not in subs or enclosures etc. Perhaps you have to call them?

I think I saw the direct price is about $700 usd. Wonder If Audio Haven can order it in...might be worth giving them a call
