Since I couldn't come up with anything on the search I thought I'd just post it myself.

Does anyone know any good roads to drive on around the gta area. I live in markam and stouville has some decent roads but I don't know anywhere else. I have my days off this coming Tuesday and Wednesday and still breaking in the engine so I'd like to go for a good drive.

If you have pictures of the roads that would help a lot google maps are missing pics for some places.

Thanks in advance and where ever I'm heading Tuesday or Wednesday, anyones welcome to join in on the fun.

Note to mods - if I posted in the wrong place or if this has already been posted feel free to relocate or close this thread.

PR3Y11, I was going to send this to you in a PM, but here is even better. Try the roads around the North end of the Toronto Zoo. Type them into Google Maps as Old Finch and Plug Hat. You can also have a look at Twyn Rivers which is right on the border with Pickering, but it's part of Rouge Park and there are often people out on the trails who walk too close to the road (or right on it). Other than that, pretty much the whole area of North Durham is decent for wiping around.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll be swinging out there tonight to take a look if I don't get off work too late and I'll post up when I'll be heading out there for anyone who wants to drive join in or drive a line (not street racing).

It short and bit bumpy but Pottery road downtown is quite fun for the short length it is. In the same area there's also rosedale valley road which doesn't look too fun on the map but it's not bad.

I like the southbound drive down Bayview, entering from Leaside (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=moore+and+bayview,+toronto&sll=43.696781,-79.371736&sspn=0.013497,0.033023&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Bayview+Ave+%26+Moore+Ave,+Toronto,+Toronto+ Division,+Ontario,+Canada&z=17) (off Moore or whatever it turns into). Just watch it when the roads are slick. You can make the left onto Pottery from there. Nice drive at night.
Also, Adelaide eastbound flyover as it spits you onto Eastern near the DVP/bmw dealership.

But, I try not to drive too hard in the city. I like having a license.

There's lots of nice twisty wooded back roads up in Bolton/Palgrave/Orangeville. I'm sure some of the motorcycle guys could give you a long list of awesome drives...

Just be careful now that the weather's getting bad, guys.

If you want to meet up at a Tim's and go for a drive, I'm in.

looked it on on google maps with street view and looks amazing, told my buddy about it and apparently he already knew about it... that's definitely the place i'm heading to in the spring

i used to drive there just for the sake of driving on my way to and from work, when i had my last car, but it's too bumpy so i can't really enjoy the ride too much. still a good place though

I took that route back home today, and yes, it's too snowy and the roads are freezing up a little bit so it's not so great for driving. i was planning on checking out old finch tonight but just ended up going home because of the weather. hopefully it'll get better tomr and tues, if so, i'll be heading out for a drive most likely on wed night but i'll post up before hand if i am, maybe we could get a mini meet going since there's nothing for the winter

whens the next meet?

after the new yr, we'll have a winter meet...but not the best time to plan a cruise.

I think we should do a early morning cruise to Mosport DDT for one of the track days on a wknd...everyone can then hang out at the track...bbq, shoot the sh!t, take pics...and see some MS3's in action.

with regards to good roads to drive on, I used to search google maps for the twistiest road and drive there...always disappointed cuz they're never long enough. there are some around hamilton...some around orangeville...halton hills...

I once searched for abandoned towns in Ont...found some pretty quiet roads...but even those aren't really that deserted...

I also google street viewed some of the roads to vermount ski resorts...no big deal...

this is likely why most north americans like drag racing...we have too much dang room and then we build straight roads...

lol too true
i did the exact same thing last week with google maps only to be disappointed when snowfall hit 3 hours before i got off work.
i've never actually been to a track yet so it'll be a new experience all together so it should be fun

just a quick question though, have there been any meets at a coin-op car wash, it seems like a really good place to meet to me, and the one up at bur oak is close to some decent roads up in elgin mills area which we could cruise on before/after all our cars are nice and clean

not a bad idea; my red car looks salty silver already and winter's not even in full effect yet

bringing this thread from the dead

industrial parkway in aurora
great road, ups and downs, all sorts of turns, fairly long

suggest driving at night when all the industrial businesses are closed

i would also do a drive by just to check for police before really driving it

Bayview southbound is a great drive.. I turn onto Rosedale Valley.. It's stunning when it's sunny and and the rays are beaming through the trees.. Relaxing.

I live up in Markham too! I thought I was the only one up there who had fun on Stouffville's side roads...lol.
From what I remember, there's a small town north of Orangeville called Dundalk (super small town) and it's pretty deserted at night when it comes to life on the roads. It's quite a drive but if you really have nothing to do and you just wanna zoom around I'd say go there.

Is that the one with the junk yard near the end of it (as you ge close to Steeles)? If so, then yes - the condition of the road is kinda brutal!

Twyn Rivers in Scarborough is a pretty nice road. Lots of twists and turns. Unless you end up behind a really sloooow person who likes to ride the brakes constantly down every little dip ... then it's just a long borning drive (since it's only one lane in each direction).

I don't think so...... I know there's a junk yard on steels near the train tracks just past reesor.... (standard auto wreckers or something). That area of steeles is fricken horrible too

My favorite bank of corners is luckily on my way home from my raceshop!

Take DVP northbound from Gardner (or broadview) and exit at bayview, enjoy the nice round off ramp but don't speed as they have a radar trap after the bridge, and then exit onto northbound bayview and give'r. Go up the hill, turn into the Loblaws and go straight onto Moore, take a left on Moore and then another left at the lights (Bayview) and go southbound...you can pretty much loop a few times and have a big smile on your face.

Tokay444
03-21-2011, 08:44 PM
the best onramp in the gta is also one of the scariest. downhill, almost 360 degrees, and one huge frost heave and rather large expansion joint about 15 feet before the heave, just as you enter the loop, right after a very fast uphill sweeper. the expansion joint will almost always trigger your abs, and if you don't know about the frost heave, you will get thrown into the wall. get it right and at about the mid way point you'll have all four tires screaming in a throttle and steering controlled very neutral slide. it's the end of royal windsor getting on the qew westbound. i have to really taper off not to hit the highway doing 50 over.

mulock dr west of bathurst (i think). 60 km/hr zone but ive never seen radar, although i usually do 60 cause its nice scenery.

lots of hills and bends.
one bend is blind right at the top of a hill. ive been going down that street since i was 5 and still slow down at that part, ( as did my dad)

Any of the streets near the beaches south of Queen St/Kingston Rd west of Main St/Woodbine Ave. area has some nice steep inclines. Perfect place to test your winter tires. We used to come to a dead stop to wait for cars to get unstuck out of their driveways and then resume driving without a hitch. :)

Might do that again since they're calling for 5cm of snow this Friday.

My car wouldn't even move on my way home. There were a couple lights that I couldn't even get off the line for and missed. I thought I was gonna hit the curb a few times. My max speed was probably 40km/h. I contemplated leaving it in a parking lot and calling a cab. My 15 minute drive took over an hour. Those Bridgestones are BALD!

If you are in the West, try Forks Of The Credit Road, Caledon (North of Brampton). See this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD6_N-bC7PE&feature=related) or other (http://www.streetfire.net/video/cruisin-forks-of-the-credit-road-in-my-wrx_36128.htm). I hear that the road is under construction, so it may be a good idea to wait until the construction is over.

The forks is so overplayed it's not even funny. It's only like 4 or 5 km of road and it isn't even that twisty lol. Not to mention it's a hot spot for cops. I don't know where they led me any of the times but going on rides with a group of bikers I have seen some MUCH better stuff than the forks.

Like I said, I didn't know where I was being led on those couple of rides, I just followed and paid attention to the road conditions and contaminants. There's much more to look out for on a bike, a tiny bit of sand or a few pebbles spaced too closely is enough to send you sliding.

I'll have to keep an eye out there for them. Always wondered why I never see cops on that hill.

It's short, but Muskoka Road 10 near Port Sydney (Huntsville area) is quite good. Like Airport Road up to Collingwood as well, but it's pretty straight.
