I'm currently dropped on 04-09 prokits and looking for options on shocks for my 2010. To those with 2010's, what do you guys suggest?
Also, how long are the oem shocks expected to last and when is a good time to switch them? I only have 12,500km on the car as it is brand new.

well i dont have a suggestion as to what type of shocks you should look for but they say on average( depending on the roads etc) that when you are lowered you may only get about 20,000-40,000 of good driving before you start to see the wear and tear take affect and effect the suspension. That is if the oem shocks are still fairly new, like yous are.

yea, i was reading somewhere between 30-35,000km before you need to swap. I was looking at koni's since most members use them. how long do the koni's usually last for?

Not sure about how long they last but...could get a pair real cheap used as there is a list of members going to coilovers in early spring. I'm already calling dibs lol.

i'll look into that too lol. im guessing by spring 2012 i'll be needing new shocks. what about the struts? would i need to swap/replace those with my shocks to prevent any issues?

They will last you a lifetime before you have to buy another set.
they even have an painless warranty procedure (you get the new shocks in hand before sending the old shocks back - and just leave a deposit till they receive the old shocks.
I have 50k on my Koni Yellows so far..... goin strong

good to know. i still have a while before i make the switch (just about to hit 13,500km). is it the same as the 04-09's? i dont see 2010 specific koni shocks available.

I'm most likely going with Koni Yellows, or (less likely) FSDs at the same time as when (and if) I switch to Prokits.
Comparing the two years (2010/2009):
Front:
8741 1487LSport / 8741 1487LSport
8741 1487RSport / 8741 1487RSport
Rear:
8040 1351Sport / 8040 1350Sport
So it looks like the fronts are identical, but something has changed in the rear shocks (?)...

Thanks! I wonder why the rear shocks are different. The kit seems expensive from Koni, $765.00 per kit is freakin' nuts.

I am on previous gen bc coils and they fit the 10 sedan and speed nicely.
On my 05 I was on stock shocks and progress springs for about 60000km and they were still good so it all depends on how you drive and what kinds of roads you drive on.

Dan, are you still on stock shocks? I'm mostly likely going with the Konis and they would work well with my Prokit right?

FYI, I bought my Koni Yellows (shocks only) from Shox.com
Total price, after shipping, duty and all that good stuff was $636.19 CAD all in. (that was a year ago, and there was some negotiation over the phone).

so the 1st gen bc coils fit perfectly on the 2nd gen? i thought the rear was different?

=( so you mean i missed out on the $699 04-09 coilovers that garage16 had it? D'OH! All this time i thought they where different.

took a look at this GB that was offered through Garage16 and they are not very impressive. You will require parts from your stock configuration. No camber plates not dampining adjustment. looks like a simple hight adjusting coil. At those prices you are probably off better with koni shocks and lowering springs

Public Service Announcement:
Just checked Koni's site, and it appears the Koni Sports (Yellows) are on sale:
Front Pair: $405 Sale Price $324
Rear Pair: $300 Sale Price $240
Which comes to a pre-shipping total of $564 for a full set of Koni Yellows... Tempting.

That is very tempting! I would buy these now and keep them stored for when I do make the switch over. No funds at the moment...:(

+1 - That's exactly it. I just recently changed my front shocks at 170K so driving and road conditions definitely have a major role here.
