I had a viper 5901 installed and its giving me intermittent issues. I know the first thing everyone will say is take it back to the installer, I will in the new year as he is an hour and 20 min drive away. So I thought I'd check with you guys if anyone has any ideas. My car randomly will shut down the auto starter after 2 mins. Its set to a 12 min cycle but when the timer gets to 2 it shuts down, it does this about 50% of the time and just restarting it does not fix the issue.

This morning i started the car to warm up before work, got to the store, tried to leave the car on wile i went in to grab a snack for later and the car shutdown after 2 mins. Drove the rest of the way to work, tried to remote start and the car shutdown at 2 mins again. left it all day, remote started at the end of the day and the whole 12 min cycle ran.

Any ideas?

Thanks

i love it otherwise, I doubt the problem exists in the viper, I think it may be the 3rd party PATS bypass module

can't you take it to any Authorized Viper/DEi installer under its Lifetime warranty?

The bypass module is only used to start the car not to keep it running. Try re-programing the alarm for 12 mins again if that still doesn't work its the alarm`s brain

Does it shut down at exactly 2 mins every time it shutdowns early?

It varies in time anywhere from 30 secs to about 5 mins, and sometimes not at all. It's weird..But most often does it about 2 mins in

Why not take it back to where you bought it?

I am going to but i live an hour and a half drive from where I bought it and work a lot. If I can fix myself then it would save me time hassle and gas

Is time and gas worth the headache of trying to fix it yourself should be the question ;)
