8 days all inclusive... so long as inclusive doesn't mean that you are sleeping in a room for all the nights of your stay.

when you spend years and millions of dollars building your brand, why you'd throw all that with a cheap scam that nets you a bit extra profit but a lot of pissed customers is beyond me.

Wow... this is an eye-opener. Like Ryan said, I've used sunwing for a cuba trip 2 years ago and everything turned out great.

Yeah no kidding. 1 experience like this with the media today will cost Sunwing a lot of money unless they (Sunwing) compensate those affected. Maybe they can try and save face. Even still, I'm sure people will overlook them now as a trip provider and go elsewhere.

What a pile of scat... We booked with them to Paradise Island last year and were greeted to long delays after an evening arrival, but at least we had rooms till the last morning!

I used Sunwing once for just a flight to Orlando. It was extremely cheap. It worked out to just over $400 taxes included for two of us round trip from Pearson. I always wondered how they were able to sell me flight tickets so cheap but now I know it's because the flight was already subsidized by the people they were ripping off with all inclusive packages. :chuckle

Insult to injury - The Sunwing spokesperson would not provide a specific response to the issue, then proceeded to defend their actions as if it were ok. Why in the world are you selling a 8 day trip and only providing 7 days in the hotel? Thats like selling a 12-pack of hotdogs while only including 11 buns!

I thought this was normal.. isn't a lot of vacation are like 8 days, 7 nights, or 3 days 2 nights... etc... I don't know why people are expecting 8 nights and 8 days lol

8 days 6 nights.... they count the day you arrived as a night, this isn't the traditional 8 days 7 nights arrangement... having to checkout on a Thursday when your flight is on a Friday isn't normal business practice

When I went to the Dominican with Transat they took us to the airport like 11 hrs before our flight was scheduled to leave. The fun part was that I did not calculate for that in the money that we took, and we had a total of $6 left when we hit the airport, and no credit cards. Let me tell you, include in the bus drive to the airport, the wait, the flight, and getting through customs in canada before we could get food it was like 17 hrs without food. I ALMOST DIED!!!

11 free buns and you'd complain you didn't get twelve?! Sorry...couldn't resist!

Agreed.

I flew sunwing, and the same type of thing happened, we basically got an 'extra' day so it was 8 days, but had to check out of our hotel in the morning and our flight didn't leave until well into the evening... I read my itinerary, we knew it was going to happen. I just got wasted for the 8th day in a row... you paid for it!!

if you read the story they didn't... we're not talking about 2 people, entire charters constantly going to the same place with the same deal

So what I get out of this is that they checked into the hotel TOO early, so, while they did get their 8 days, they didn't get that 7 nights because of that morning check in. So really, they got 6 nights.

No, I blame this on sunwing.

Yup. One night sleeping in the lobby of a hotel or asking guests to pay for a late check-out until 12 midnight is really not cool. Total scam.

I guess they need to explain the itinerary more clearly to their customers.

And Im suppose to feel sorry for them if they didn't read it? They took everything for granted and if you skip the orientation and find out on the last day.. then you have nothing to complain about. I find it hard to believe that when they booked the tickets, Expedia didn't send them an itinerary of their stay and flight.

Besides, if you flight takes off at 3AM or 5:30AM how much sleep do you think you'll get? After taking in to consideration travel times to the airport and the xx hours your suppose to be at the airport for international flights.. I might as well forego the hotel altogether.

Sure, it might not be the best way of booking things but I don't think it is a scam. You work it out and they did get what Sunwing advertised... 7 night, 8 days.

i dunno, maybe I'm in a very combative mood today...

but.. the charter flight leaves Vancouver / Calgary on Friday evening .. arrives early Saturday morning. sooo... Saturday counts as the first day... we have: Sat (night) Sun (night) Mon (night) Tues (night) Wed (night) Thurs (Night) Fri (Night) Sat.... Why should I expect an extra night if it said 8 days, 7 nights.

They are counting Friday night as your first night even though you arrive Saturday morning... which works great up to the point when Friday rolls around and you need to check out and your flight isn't until the next day

They never counted Friday night as the first night.. that is a red herring. That's the author of the article trying to mislead people in creating more pity / unfairness..

"One explanation they were given is that their first night — while they were flying — counted as a paid night in the hotel."

^ That doesn't make sense. If we counted it, it would be 8 nights, 8 days. Refer to the time schedule I made. Flight leaves Friday arrives Saturday. That's why he put "one explanation" and not the official explanation. Retarded author.

you're right, its the authors fault and the people arriving every week that received no such explanation in any of their paperwork are all idiots and this is a good business practice from a reputable vacation company that we should all recommend to friends and family
