I have the option if I have too, but with only being 10km's from work, and having a 4x4 truck, I might try and make the venture in.

Who knows how bad it will be until it's here. Plenty of reason not to go out if it's that bad - rarely happens, and work will still be there waiting for you on Thursday. No excuse needed, because I still have 9 days left from last year, and am using one tomorrow. Enjoy the traffic jams :)
