Check TD they have a bunch of IT jobs in toronto. If you just need a job go to kelly services in markham (woodbine and steeles) they hire for IBM call centers, shatty job, but it pays. The best part is it's good to understand how companies really work from an IT backend perspective.

Thats how i started needed cash and they were hireing. I lucked out and ended up on the TD Bank Service desk. Some people while at IBM managed to make good relations ships with VP's at TD and they left IBM to get hired directly at TD. Myself the whole desk moved to TD late last year, and now i'm working my ass off there and am generally a go to guy. unfortunately the TD help desk is not hiring unless you are in London last i heard

Hopefully you can latch on to a good company there, in the end if you get some good responses from people you help (i got probably 1 e-mail sent to my direct managers every month minimum i have been there) it's good to keep in your portfolio

Yeah, my floors are pretty much dry, I had the vent set to floor and the heat cranked. Just need to finish drying my OEM Floor Mats. I took them out to a coin op and "Blasto-dry"-ed them. Either my salt stains were worse than we thought, or I managed to blastodry the colour out of them, but I'm starting to get white areas. That makes me a sad panda :(

Buying my house on such a short notice before the new mortgage changes on March 18,2011. Overall buying the house has been nothing but tight time lines and a big cluster %^(*! Or hearing my mortgage broker state well we quoted you 3.94% but now it's 4.02%... but after speaking to his manager for 2 hours I was able to get the original 3.94% promised over 30 yrs. Other than that money and buying a house and paying for wedding all on by myself with little help is extremely frustrating.

Of the two changes coming into effect, the change to loan to value limits on refiances will have the biggest impact. This represents at drop of 10% in the amount of equity that we can refinance from two years ago.

Also people who buy condos (like my current situation) the condo fees will be looked at a negative to your credit (debt ratio etc) and they look at 100% of the condo fees vs 50% (currently). I'll dig up some more information but it's not good already this year mortgage rates have gone from 3.2 -4.05% .. not good if your gonna buy do it this month

But ya I went with RBC did the pre approved crap and got quoted for the right amount with 3.99%. My friend is actually selling me his house at a decent deal (mortgage payments roughly $700 so can't complain) all appliances , kitchen/dinning room table and everything inside is completely new ... ya I mean everything :) . But overall I found out from CIBC the "pre approved" mortgages don't mean jack. Sure they can lock in the interest rate but according to lots of government sites its not a "binding agreement" meaning you don't have a letter of offer on the property, lawyers involved and your set to buy a house before March 18, 2011 you are NOT exempted from the new stipulations of the regulations in March. So if you had a pre-approved mortgage you can’t get 35 yrs after march 18, 2011 . Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but ya that’s why the rush. ** also for most pre-approved mortgages you don't have any signed paper work to prove that rate or anything set in stone to take with you like a contract, the broker will just keep it in their laptops vs doing the mortgage application where you get documentation showing the fixed interest rate (or variable) plus amortization term

As far as the wedding everything is paid (roughly 15,000$) so it’s not tooo bad minus the cost of her ring. But would be nice if her parents actually pitched in . But ya I guess with all this stress… I just drink more and go bald and have more grey hairs.

Not in my case. If you want to propose then you need a 6K wedding ring. It looks bad to give your wife to be a cheap gift unless she was those types that didn't want a wedding ring and said to get marreid on the stop in Hawaii. No, you don't need to spend $6k on a ring, you want to. If you can't afford a $6k wedding ring then don't buy one. Get something cheaper for now and replace it later, that's the smarter thing to do. Unless she is a jewelry appraiser, she won't know the difference. And any ring over $1500 is not cheap. You're supposed to (but don't have to) spend 2 months salary on the ring, but realistically, you spend what you can afford. If you're trying to save up for a ring, plus a wedding plus a home, you kinda need to weigh which is more important; a flashy engagement ring (which means she hasn't said yes yet, so you don't know if there's even going to be a wedding), or a roof over your head and food to eat.

I told her if somehow she manages to convince me that there are actual benefits over common law then the absolute most I will spend on the whole thing, ring, ceremony, all that garbage is $5k.

If you love someone they will stay with you wedding or not, and if they won't well then they really didn't love you.

And BTW, I would think it would be much more financially stable to save the $6k you'd spend on a ring and put it towards the down payment on a house or stick it in an emergency fund. You can't eat or live in a ring if you're out of work for a while.

I totally understand were your going on this but I ended up doing it in reverse. Ended up getting a place first and then bumped into the girl (wife) after. Got married because it was the proper thing to do in God's eyes (am religious) so I was more than happy in getting her the ring she wanted.
