So I've done a little research but like others recently I'm having a rough go with my Mazda 3. Note ignore spelling and grammar I'm speed typing on a iPhone :)

Specs : 2006 gs , only electrical mod is aftermarket hids and fogs which have been in the car way over 2 years. No major repairs till maybe now the car is auto and has 98k and is due for an oil change this month. Also note original battery and I doubt the CBE has anything to so with it (on car 3 years as my issue is electrical bat or alternator )

Problem

After work I go out to start the car unlock the car with the keyless entry and my lights don't go on. Use the key and there is no clicking lights flash on once than off. Turn off the fan and try again and nothing. The lock (security light ) is not flashing but my door light showing my door is on. I try seeing if my dome light turns on it does but very faintly. I get a boost and the car turns on and I let it run for 10 minutes. I put the car in drive and turn on the defrost and my speedometer goes to red line and I have no power the engine is dead. I turn the key on it starts no problem . By the time I get home (15 minute drive) I let the car idle in park try turning the fan on full it seems to work ok . So I turn the fan off and the car and try to start it now I'm getting the dreaded ticking sound. Is it my alternator or my batter ? Its pitch black the car is in my driveway and I have no flashlights to get a good look. I'm not from Toronto should I take it to Mazda or do a batt test and hope it is just my battery and buy a new one from CT

Not a happy towel right now grrrrrr

Measure the battery voltage when is pressed the brake pedal or enabled the cig lighter with key in ACC , I think there will be less then 10 volts. The ticking noise is most like, the starter solenoid tries to be engaged but even hasn't a force to close the main contact. 99 percents it the battery.

It's your battery - it's dead.

The Mazda6 does the same thing. We call it "The Sweep of Death".
