Hello. So I will be trying to compete in all the regional series for http://www.casc.on.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=21684

Im wondering what everyone is doing for tires? Here is my current situtation. I have shitty 16's with shitty as Dayton tires. Granted they are new, but I will be pulverizing them. Are there any good compounds/brands of tires for 16's or is it better to step down to 15's for gearing/weight or go to 17's?

I found a set of 18 rx8 rims, but im thinking those will be garbage for auto-x...i was going to street them.

Other than that, the car will be completely stock to stay competitive.

Any input?

16s should be fine, maybe better than 17s. 15 might be hard to find in a tall enough tire for the 3. Your limiting factor is going to be tire width on the stock wheels.

If you're looking for new tires, Hankook RS3, Toyo R1R, Federal 595 RS-R are three top of the heap tires for autocross. I don't know if he's a vendor here, but I saw GBTires on TOProtege (and other forums) offering a good price on the Federals. When I find out my final price on the R1Rs, I'll decide on one of them. They don't make an RS3 to fit my AWD beast. You can get discounts on the Toyos with series registration.

You can also looks at Dunlop Direzza Star Specs, if you can find a good price.

Are you going, or did you go, to the autocross school? April 30 and May 1 this year at the Powerade centre in Brampton. Last year it was $100 total for both days. I highly recommend it.

well I found a sex of rx7 fd rims, so I will be using those as my track rims.

I was thinking about going wit the hankook rs3 due to price and i read decent reviews (little over 100 bucks a pop on tirerack).
The toyo, was not on tirerack. How do I register to get a discount? And do you know what the price of a set of 4 225.50.16 toyos R1R are with the discount?

Check out the casc.on.ca site. You should see a link to the open house for registration. This year it's April 10. When you register for the provincial championship series you get a coupon toward tires at a sponsor. Coupons are worth more if you buy Toyos this year. There are other coupons available, too. Price list is confidential, but become a member of any of the affiliate clubs and you'll be able to see it (I'm with SPDA.) I can tell you that they cost more than the RS3 based on your description.

Toyo and BF Goodrich are both sponsors this year and both have prizes available for competitors running their tires if purchased in Canada.

starspecs are pretty popular also...

Either way try to get the smallest wheel possible, it lowers the car and reduces weight at the wheels. Most guys get FD rims for the mazda 3 which are 16in...
