I was running the Cobb shifter + JBR SSP + custom extender (thanks to midz97!) for a while now. Tho it was ok, I had a couple of issues...my shifter base was busting (yes, I drive THAT hard! LOL) and the extender wasn't long enough for me. So when TWM came out with the complete shifter replacement...I jump in it...lol...[joke for those who's seen the opulence video]...

Anyway, I left the JBR plate on along with its weight...install is self-exp-lanatory, and unlike Cobb's shifter, this is available now and not "discontinued", meaning installation instructions are available online. Only bump along the way was getting the cables to sit into the shifter...a couple of taps with a pair of pliers and they were in.

These are taken with the first extender in place:

This looks all kinda bare and sad...so I decided to jazz it up a bit...

1-2-3-4 and 6 feels good. TWM came with very good instructions on how to adjust it. But perhaps my combo of the TWM shifter replcement + JBR SSP made 5th non-existent...its engagement point feels like where the "gate" should start...I've made quite a few adjustments on the shifter to no improvements. I might try later on. Overall tho, I feel 1-2-3-4 improvement to be enough to forget about 5th...we'll see how this goes with time.

More importantly tho, this is my rationale...I needed a LONGER shifter for track days and even general driving...my hands/arms do not hang down to my knees and I prefer the shortest distance possible between the shifter and the steering wheel. When you lengthen the shift stalk, all else being equal, you will invariably increase your shift throws (think leverage)...thus, a short throw shifter will allow me to bring my shift action closer to neutral or slightly shorter despite the extended shifter stalk lever...

Think about that for a moment and appreciate the true purpose of a short throw shifter... ;)

The following are pics that I've taken along the way to completing my TWM Complete Shifter Replacement:

a couple of modded washers (holes enlarged...lol) to seat the shift boot right:

3 more on top of shift boot to hold it down...you'll notice the red is more matching here than some orange...

2nd/shorter extender:

Now install a sun roof and start ghost riding your whip! :chuckle (While maintaining ability to shift!)

How is shifter side to side movement? I know that used to bug you about the previous shifter.

I never had a TWM STS, but yeah, without adjusting the shifter cables, the Cobb STS also didn't feel right going side-to-side, but after some adjustments, the Cobb shifter was great.

Realized that when I re-read my post. I didn't fix it in time. :)

I'll have to talk to you about that sometime.. Were you able to completely eliminate side to side movement? It never bothered me until you mentioned it lol. Always assumed it was busher wear and tear like with my old car, but realized we have a completely different setup.

Haha, thats awesome, It would make me feel like a trucker. The practicality makes sense though.
