what about the innocent people that he killed? Oh yeah, he's a hero.... :rolleyes
how do you know they were innocent?
Until you are in their position, you have no right to call a person who is putting their life on the line, NOT a hero.

Agreed to a certain extent.
Let's not forget the people that sacrificed their lives for their countries.
We shall never forget those who sacrificed their lives to give us the freedom we enjoy today, Canada specifically i'm speaking of :)
With relation to the veteran, impressive to say the least.. Must have trained day and night :P

I guess it is was my bad to comment on this thread considering I'm fully against wars...
I'll update the thread :rolleyes
I'm sure he shot one or two innocent people let's be real.
He could have. By knowledge or not, I would say every soldier could have killed an innocent civilian by mistake.
However, it could be a problem when you kill innocent people on purpose or without caution/care, like women, children and elderly.

I don't think you needed to update at all. You are entitled to your opinion and views.
Plus, I don't think anyone here is really with wars, especially seeing the wars being fought today are total BS, out of self interest... but that's another story.
We are all humans occupying this land called Earth, hopefully one day we can all get along.

It's okay, it had to be done. Let's carry on with the thread.
Hats off to this Man, true skill never dies
It's sad that so many people do not appreciate men like this and what they went though in their life and the sheer amount of Respect they have for people around them. He is very humbled by the young men around him and his experience in the video
so....you get awarded a hat? thats so lame.
what happened to medals? or badges?
It's not the actual Prize, it's what it represents. These people are soldiers and get medals and badges like the rest, but for the snipers they are a smaller group of the Army. Plus you wear it like a medal you walk around with that hat on in an Army base and people know who are and respect you simply for being able to wear that hat
I guess it is was my bad to comment on this thread considering I'm fully against wars...
I'll update the thread :rolleyes
Before you kill the thread, let me say this. Fully against wars can never be, some people must fight for what is right. World War 2 was truly a war of that. and the War in Libya happening right now, people are fighting for their freedoms and the things we take for granted here.
ironically enough my respect for men like this came though Call of Duty i remember how crazy it got and how pissed off I got when i would die, only to realize to Millions of men this was life for them at my age or younger and they truly were fighting the good fight
Sorry double post please delete

i can see this getting out of hand.. but lets face history and give the man the respect he deserves. he went and did things that not one should ever have to do.. He is a hero who lived in a time of war and did what he thought was right for his country.. like wars or not it happened and with out it this would be a very different place.

What I find crazy is: the fact that; at the age of 86, having only ever used a WWII era rifle, and never ever been able to make or trained for, a 1000 yard shot. His first shot was better than the modern-age trained sniper, and then his next 2 shots were even better! 3 Headshots, at 1000 yards, at the age of 86, and being a WWII sniper. That's just crazy!

+1...and unless they cut it out of the video, it seemed like he was doing it without the help of the spotter in terms of adjustments as I didn't hear what they said the command to take the shot was.

I was going to say the same thing, but I'm not sure if they cut it out, or if I missed it.
