Some of the live pictures on CNN right now are unreal. An actual Tsunami on its way to the shore being captured from a Helicopter.
I thought Boxing Day 2004 was bad, this could be just as bad if not worse.

Earthquake was 8.9 on the richter scale.

Ive got family in Hawaii so hopefully they don't get it too bad, but my prayers go out to those in Japan, I couldn't imagine going through something like this.
I am watching it now. I hope ppl in Hawaii can get away in time. They have advance notice which is a lot more than Japan got :(

the scale of devastation is scary!
I have experienced firsthand a killer quake (7.8) back then in the Philippines, its like there's no where to run, you're in a state of shock. I just say my prayers and hope for the best/surviving it.

Agreed. Terrible. No cars moving. Some trains are starting to run. People were told to stay where they were if they were in a safe place. So some people stayed at work. Some were stuck at Tokyo Disneyland and Disney fed them and opened the shops to allow people to get shelter.

Warning has just been lifted...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHWvbisFg0I&feature=player_embedded
This reporter films his journey into the evacuation zone around Japan's troubled ***ushima nuclear plant. Normally crowded streets are empty but for a pack of dogs and a few flat-bed trucks carrying unknown cargo. A Geiger counter measures extremely high radiation.
The trip starts at about 18 miles from the plant, which is not currently in the 12.4-mile evacuation zone (though may soon be). It's clear people have taken international warnings to heart and have fled close to the plant.
At one point the reporter finds a damaged, impassible highway and must turn around to find a side street to venture closer to the heart of the radiation zone. The Geiger counter on the dash beeps incessantly, showing levels as high as 122 μsv/h when they get within viewing distance of the plant, which is 360 times the average radioactive amount a human gets as background radiation.
Other than one crushed police car, the authorities are notably absent in this video and appear to be heeding the warnings to stay away from the area. It's just some cats and a few dogs who are oblivious to the possible dangers — and this reporter, who is just crazy.
