View Full Version : Squeaky Brakes?

Hey everyone,

I recently got my stoptech slotted rotors installed with front Hawk HP+ pads front and rear Hawk HPS pads. Since getting them installed, my brakes started to have a HORRIBLE squeal every time i brake.

I've had other aftermarket brakes before with a little bit of squeak but this time, its much worse.

Any ideas why?

Hawk HP+ pads squeak, wear rotors fast and produce lots of dust. They're a track/autocross application pad and not really meant for street use. The HPS should be fine and should not squeak, nor dust excessively.

Why did you put HP+ pads on the front and HPS pads on the rear? The difference in pad grip and engagement is very different and apart from odd feel, this is going to throw your braking bias towards the front of the car...

The reason for that was I was planning to track my car this summer or coming summer. I had the same setup on my old ford focus but the squeak wasn't as bad as the one on my mazda3 :S

Yeah it squeals every time, very loudly too. I brought my car to a garage to do it for me since I had to get my 120000km service done, maybe I shall call him to see if he can do something about it.
