I can bet a million dollars that nobody would wanna switch places w/ her right now.
I wont be surprised if she gets expelled from UCLA, the dude is right, there are a LOT of asians there lol
And I read that she received thousands of death threats =/
If anything, the librarians should be more strict w/ enforcing library rules (ex: silence lol) since I do see a lot of people (not just asians, different types of race) who come in groups and talk in the library like its a hang out spot
Anyways, I'm sure if I went away for college/uni, my relatives would do the same (come on weekends, do my laundry, cook, etc lol) because of our culture and because I'm the youngest so they think I can't do anything LOL We don't get this urge to move out right away or be away from family...

I found this girl BGirlPeppa's video response. Pretty funny. Actually she's an excellent hip hop dancer and even doubles for that girl Tina on Glee.

Alexandra Wallace announced she will no longer be attending UCLA in an apology letter released to the Daily Bruin on Friday.
Wallace, the creator of the “Asians in the Library” video that went viral last Sunday, released a statement through a spokesman for the Wallace family.
The letter comes the day UCLA announced that it will not take action against Wallace for the video.
Below is Wallace’s full letter:
In an attempt to produce a humorous YouTube video, I have offended the UCLA community and the entire Asian culture. I am truly sorry for the hurtful words I said and the pain it caused to anyone who watched the video. Especially in the wake of the ongoing disaster in Japan, I would do anything to take back my insensitive words. I could write apology letters all day and night, but I know they wouldn’t erase the video from your memory, nor would they act to reverse my inappropriate action.
I made a mistake. My mistake, however, has lead to the harassment of my family, the publishing of my personal information, death threats, and being ostracized from an entire community. Accordingly, for personal safety reasons, I have chosen to no longer attend classes at UCLA.

My parents used to say... think before you speak..
After something is said... it cannot be unsaid.
Part of me feels sorry for her, as this will follow her for the rest of her life. But she said it.

I don't care so much about all the other stuff she said. But I HATE it when people mock languages!
We talk in the library, Valid point.
Family comes over and does stuff for us, Valid point.
Hordes of Asians getting accepted into UCLA, valid point.
Make fun of my language, Sorry, you just lost any tiny bit of respect I had for you

I'm sitting in my school library... there's actually a giant sign that says cell phones are not allowed in the library. There's also a sign that says cell phone talking are only allowed in the stairwell.
Though when I first stepped into the library on Saturday, I tempted to pretend to talk on my cell phone and see if some blonde bitch would go on a rant about me on youtube. LOL

bahahahaha, you should do it. Walk through the library and find a group of girls that look just as dumb as that ashley girl. Take out your phone and say "Ling long ting tong" and see what happens haha.

This is pretty close to how I viewed the video. As I see it, a number of her observations could indeed be generally considered valid, however her approach and conclusions she reached therein are what ruined her.
RIGHT: A video earnestly asking WHY a group of people/culture/race act in a certain way (e.g. family coming over, etc.) = fosters cultural understanding and diversity.
WRONG: Identifying things a group of people/culture/race do differently from yourself, then criticizing/mocking it for being backward or wrong simply on the basis that it is different = profound ignorance and/or racism.
I can only hope she actually did learn something from this whole affair, and actually understands why what she said was wrong.

I bet she didn't. She was trying to be funny. I'm sure she just thinks "man, I was just making a joke. Why'd they have to get all upset with me? It's not like I was racist or something."

Furthering this with a new video response I saw on Gizmodo today...I think it's a nice way to turn what she said around.
