FML!!!!!

So over the weekend, I somehow got a dent on the driver's side door the size of a loonie. I'm thinking that it's no big deal and could probably get the dent removal guy to pop it out. So I call up Kevin to see if he could do the job. He tells me to take a pic and send it over so he could take a quick look.........

Well, he noticed that there is a hairline crack in the paint, and that if he pops the dent out.... there is a chance the crack in the paint may grow longer and start to flake/ crack. Basically trading one problem for another. He said he could take the dent out (approx. $50), but again... good chance the paint will flake/ crack even more.

So I decide to take it a step further an get a couple of quotes from different places to see how much to repair this issue (fix dent and paint). All I have to say is DAAAANG!!!!

The quote I received were as low as $605 and as high as $695. They told me how it would be a 3 stage paint because of the pearl, how they would have to blend the front fender, remove and re-install various parts, etc.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sure these are all legit costs, but FML!

That's pretty crappy dude! Their should be other shops that might do it cheaper but I dunno whether the quality would be just as good.

Damn, that sucks man. Are you still getting the dent out? Which places did you go to? Other than Richard, I heard Carboy at Richmond Hill is good too..

Yeah, Richard at SP is my next bet.
The other quotes I got were all from the west end.

Gian>> well if all the quotes are going to be towards $600+ range, I think I'll just get the dent removed and test my luck further.

If you de decide to fix it find a shop that can match the cwp, though that will be hard to do. Everyone has such a hard time matching it even when blending it.

You could at least get Kevin to fix the dent for 50 and find a shop that will just fix the paint at a cheaper cost

NOt really to much.... Cause the paint has pearl they have to paint pretty much the side of the car to get it to blend...

I know when my sister inlaw got into a minor fender bender and her car needed a new fender the body shop also had to paint the doors to match the paint...it a very hard paint to match

sucks man - sorry to hear

I say get the dent popped out. (I'm assuming they use a heat gun to help soften the paint wen popping it out?)
Then deal with any paint work when and IF it turns to a bigger problem.
