Show & Shine/BBQ at Elite Mazda June 4th - AKA - TM3 invades Ottawa/Gatineau

In years past the Ottawa Mazda Club, and the Montreal Mazda club have been having a show & shine/BBQ at Elite Mazda in Gatineau. This year, the event is changing because TM3 is going to be attending!
For those who have not heard of Elite Mazda previously, they are the largest Mazda dealer in Canada. The retail location at Elite Mazda features a 20 car show room, 6car drive through reception area, a state of the art service centre with detailing facility...and that's just the automotive portion.
The dealership also features an Internet cafe, a well-equipped gym complete with change rooms and showers, on-site hair and manicure salon, bistro, massage chairs, and even activities for children and teens.

Last year, this event had approximately 100 cars. This year the goal is 200 cars.
The show and shine event itself will start at 11am on Saturday June 4th. There will be prizes with prizes donated by sponsors from all three clubs, and the dealership as well.
Feel free to bring kids/significant others, this is a family friendly event.

For those like myself who want to make a weekend of the outing, there will be additional optional events. Planned so far: group dinner, trip to a local drag strip, bar hop.
Once we have an idea of the number of people who are going to stay the weekend and number of nights, I will organize a group rate at a local hotel.
Come on folks, this is our chance to show the Ottawa/Montreal Mazda groups what TM3 is all about!

LOL yeah, it's not exactly near the main hotels, nor near Élite at all. Still, those incoming could take the Kirkwood exit off the 417, turn right @ Laperriere, and start blasting the bugs off your hood within a minute of leaving the highway. :)

I wish I could make it, but with moving to a new home (and now a fractured ankle), I have certain restraints preventing me from doing alot of things (both financially and physically). I was really hoping to make this event; more people should sign up.

As per pm, my plan is to use priceline to secure rooms for everyone that needs one. I expect the price will be $100 per night. I will pay for the rooms, and people can re-imburse me.

Events need to start somewhere. The more people from TM3 attend this year, the more can speak to the fun when it comes to next year. We always invite non local clubs out to our events, and the general response has been "when was the last time TM3 attended one of our events.." .
This was our chance to change that perception...now...not so much.
Most likely, ~200 cars will attend...just not many from TM3..

Exactly. The Ottawa/Quebec list is massive. With or without TM3 these events always have a big turnout. And the prizes are pretty good too ;) Definitely worth the drive.

TM3 representation might not be big, but there are A LOT of cars showing up from the Ottawa area and Montreal.

It's a 4 hour drive, about 4 and a half if you cruise ~100km/h on Highway 7 (Except don't stick to highway 7 all the way from the GTA, that would take a little longer, I can give you guys the route from Markham) and it really is NOT that bad. If anything, it's worth it to check out how bad some cars are in Quebec :P, there was a protege there last year that was just plastered with bondo.

Also, there are likely prizes to be won no matter what club you're from, free food. Hell, stay for a whole weekend and take in the rest of Ottawa if you haven't been there before.

There are guys showing up who don't even have mazdas anymore, but they still go because of how awesome it is. Hell, I don't own a Mazda, but if I was in the area, I'd still be showing up. Honestly, don't miss out, it'll be a fun time. If it's anything like last year, they're gonna cruise down to the drag strip and watch an OMC member break something on his Mustang.

I'd be going if it wasn't the week end of the first camping/fishing trip.

4 or 5 hours is pretty damn short for a road trip, people who think it would be boring to go on a nice drive like that with friends who share a passion for automobiles are not true motoring enthusiasts and should not pretend to be. Road trips are about the drive and the shenanigans along the way, not the destination. For me, anyway.

As I've said before, I had a pre-arranged thing with other friends. Going to Cedar Point in Ohio with ~24 of my friends for the weekend. If I hadn't been planning this months before, or this was another weekend, I SO would have been in for it!

Yeah...How fun is Cedar Point, when you are staying in a hotel ~10 min away that has a water park inside (where guests get free passes for every day they stay in the hotel) and getting 2 massive suites, each that can fit 12 people and each has a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, fridge and such and will cost ~$100 US per person for 3 nights?

It shouldn't be too bad once you get past Peterborough.

If you guys take Highway 7, either 401 - the 115 and hit Peterborough then the 7 to Ottawa

Or if you want highway 7 all the way, swing onto the 7A and go through Port Perry and then hit the 115. Going highway 7 the entire way takes a good 45 minutes longer.

I'm disappointed in the TM3 numbers :( 6 years ago we had an OMC/TM3/QC meet here in Ottawa when all the Clubs were a lot smaller and more TM3 guys came then, I guess the OG's are the only real car/Mazda enthusiasts ;)

It's going to be a great time once again this year and the weather is looking great!
