Hey guys,

Weather's starting to warm up and I was wondering if you guys have any tips as to what needs to be done inside and out.

I plan to do a full detailing of the car. Haven't decided yet on whether I'm gonna DIY or have someone else take care of it. Cost wise, it'd prob be about the same with the insane amount of product you need to get to make it look awesome.

Of course, gonna be swapping out the winter rims and putting in the summer setup.

Now, in terms of engine related things, what do I need to do? My car is pretty new, it's got about 10K on it. Do you think I need to clean out my SRI filter? (BTW, it's a CS SRI, it should be a dry filter) With my old car, I had an Injen CAI, and I would take the filter out and run it under some water to clean it out.

Also, should I clean the MAF as well?

Anything else? Thanks.

Air filter specifically, you should follow the manufacturer's cleaning instructions. Therea re specific kits for cleaning specific filters, but if you're resourceful, you can find DIY recipes for filter cleaning solutions...usual maintenance schedule for air filters range from 10K to 25K to 50K...

With just 10K, you don't need to clean your MAF unless you work in contruction or drive daily on dirt roads, etc.

Make sure you are runing appropriate tire pressure when switching back over to summers, if you plan to do it yourself. Otherwise, an oil change and have your fluids checked...check brake pads...

I'm also interested in getting my car cleaned for summer...we'll see how that goes.

Apart from detailing, tire switch and oil/filter servicing and what is already mentioned, I always inspect (have Jimmy inspect...) all of the engine mounts, clamps and fittings on the hoses, intake etc. Full suspension check to look for any leaking struts, bearings on the way out and then a tightening of all of the chassis bolts.

Oh, and I always have Jim do a full brake service and cleaning too to get rid of all of the winter crud.

If I switch back to my OEM rims and tires (they were used maybe once when the car was driven from the dealer's storage lot over to the dealership, then swapped out for the winter steelies), will I need to get them balanced at all?

Looks like I'll be paying Jimmy a visit.

WOW! Sounds like a fun summer!
+1 to roll windows down, turn music up, drive fast, and have a matching grin with the car :D

Swap tires, check pressures, give it a good cleaning....the rest is normal maintenance and has nothing to do with the seasons changing.

Does Jimmy have an ms3?

No, he see one almost everyday that I beleive he would hate to have one.

What is the easier way to take the CAI filter out w/o taking things apart?

He essentially has about 50 of them. Maybe more. Cause that is how many MS3 members take their car to him for service. He must average an MS3 a day.

No, he doesn't actually own one.

No, you shouldn't need to, but it is never a bad idea to do it anyway.

Horrible advice =P
The CAI is already there....why would I take it out the whole thing and install another thing, isn't more hassle? =PPPP

Seeing that you pretty much have to take it apart just to get to the filter, prob not. ;)

Jack up the car. Put it on stands. Remove the bottom cover. The filter is accessible on the driver side in front of the wheel well from underneath the car. You can remove the filter and the protective screen with out having to remove or dismantle anything else. With a stock Tmic, you are getting a cooler charge (more hp, can verify with C-pe if my word isnt good enough) with a Cai than with a Sri. Over all it's not that complicated or difficult of a job. Whether it is worth it to you or not depends on how lazy you are. I also recommend an Aem prefilter for winter that you can get from Nextmod (keeps it clean over winter)!

I also get annoyed when people try to dictate how I should spend my money!

I've done this myself. It's a little bit of work but much better than taking everything apart.

Don't get upset... we're all just joking around. This would be telling you how to spend your money: "BUY ME DINNER!"

Anyway, changed my tires yday since it was nice and from the weather reports, it might rain the coming 2 weekends, so I might as well do it while I know for a fact that it's nice.

Also installed my SURE RMM. Didn't come w/ instructions, but it was pretty straight forward. The vibes aren't bad at all, kinda feels like a massage chair that vibrates. I'll have to wait till it breaks in before I can really give a decent review on it.
