Hello, just signed up, nice site here, currently reading up and exploring the forums ;)
My very first Mazda was an RX2 (with the rotary engine) - anyone here old enough to remember that original pocket rocket, lol.
I'm currently looking for a used car and would love to get a late model Mazda 3, still undecided between the sedan or HB.
In looking through Autotrader, Kijiji, etc, I'm seeing many ads by Downsview Auto, are they reliable? Other recommended sources?

Whoa, before anything, I don't think you should consider Downsview Auto.... They're stuff are cheap but I've read a lot of bad reviews about them... There's a thread specific for them here.. Honestly, I was one of the suckers who bought their cars there (I should have spent that extra hour or so researching).. Although, my car is not really a lemon, (a few rust on the wheel wells) but I mean for an older Mazda 3, I can't complain.. What I don't like the most is that they screw in the plates on the front bumper without a bracket of some sort. I also heard that they suck at body work and fixes.. And, they make you pay a deposit, which is pretty much a down payment for whichever car you picked.. And they do not let you test drive the car before you pay that deposit.. So yeah, pretty shady stuff if you ask me...
But so far, I do not see any major problems on my car... Had it checked by Scarboro Mazda and they did not find any major problems or whatnot.. Car runs great, fun to drive..
As for what to choose between sedan or hatchback, well, I currently have a sedan so I'd say that, but if I were to go back in time and choose my car MORE WISELY again, I'd go with the Mazdaspeed 3, which is a hatchback.. But ultimately, it is a great car, sedan or hatch..
I hope this helps you out a bit and good luck shopping!! :)

^^^ Thanks for the welcome and advice guys!
I read some more on the TM3 forums/posts here and it seems that the general experience at Downsview is not too good! I was going to go on Saturday but I'll probably stay away now.
I also did a search on BBB and they got the lowest rating, an F

I should have mentioned that I am looking for an automatic as the wifey will have to drive it sometimes (its a tug of war :hawt: I like the HB, she likes the sedan)
How many of you allow your significant other to drive "your" Mazda? :P

In terms of your search, you can either check out our affilitate dealerships (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?204-Affiliate-Dealerships) or GTA Fine Cars Inc. (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/forumdisplay.php?266-GTA-Fine-Cars-Inc), which also happens to be a sponsor with some great reviews.

Sadly, I am old enough to remember the RX2,although I've never driven one. I have driven a few Mazda's in my time however, including some RX7's back in my 'younger days'.
Do not. Repeat. Do not go to Downsview auto. They are as shady as it gets. GTA Fine Car's, which is a sponsor on here and although I can't say from firsthand experience, they seem reputable enough based on their posts and experiences from other members.
If you buy used, Jimmy from Street Performance is your mechanic in waiting. Look him up in Shop reviews.
Otherwise...

Thanks for the welcome everyone :)
Zoom you must be as young as me to remember the Rx2, lol...back then there wern't many local performance shops catering to the newfangled rotary (16 MPG, but gas was waaaay cheaper then), we had to import all our stuff from Racing Beat from CA. Things have changed now of course, lots and lots of nice appearance, handling and power parts to mod the current Mazdas.
Thanks for the advice, I will be looking at the Classifieds and Sponsors Sections here to see if I can find my Mz3 :cool

Hey Bleember!
Nice ride dude!! Congrats!!!
Thanks man! :P
So far I'm impressed with the fuel economy, I averaged about 7.8L/100 km combined on a quick run, is that reasonable for the 2.0 L engine?
What are you all getting on the highway? City?
