I installed my Snow Performance Stage 3 Kit last week and well, all I can say is holy ****! It makes such a noticeable difference in power, and my engine is running way cooler!
I'm still playing around with the settings as there are so many, and I haven't hooked the controller up to the injectors yet - but that should happen next week lol (as well as a proper tune for it)! The install took just less than a day, but that's cause I had to fab up all the mounts!
Does anyone else have experience with Meth, or any suggestions/tips? I'm currently running a 50/50 mix.

The guys on msf were debating ratios a while back that pure meth will yeild the most power, and adding water to the equation will start to bring down your egts. Where are you getting the meth and how much per litre?

I buy 100% meth at Canadian Tire and mix it with distilled water - costs me about $8.00 to make two windshield washer sized containers of it.

blue or green windshield washer fluid is 50/50 as per their MSDS.
pure methanol only yields more power when you're tuned for it as fuel. this is pushing your tune to the edge and if you run out of meth, you will run lean and cause damage.

How quickly does it drain a reservoir?

fairly quickly, if you're in boost a lot.
i think i went thru a reservoir in a week once. (however, i just use the same reservoir as my washer fluid)
also, where is your spray hooked up to? before or after the TB?
or is this a different kit than mine? (i have no idea what "stage" mine is, but i dont have the funky controller that you do)

Alex glad to see ya out tonight. Car and set up looks sick. Can wait to actually see this thing in action.

With some 'spirited' driving - I fill it up roughly 1/2 gas tank? I'm talking very spirited though lol ;)
On the highway and stuff it doesn't use any of it unless I'm under boost.

My kit is right before the TB. Do you have a Snow Performance kit - they offer 3 stages. If you don't have the electronic controller it isn't stage 3. If you have a stage 2 kit, you can upgrade to stage 3 by buying the electronic controller.

Make sure you got a good meth failsafe, or else you're going to be on your 3rd engine

yea, i have a snow performance kit as well. i probably have stage one or two. meh.
also, i might recommend putting the sprayer after the TB. buy a TB spacer, drill/tap a hole in it, and put the sprayer in there. my nozzle is before my TB, and it screwed up my TB (gave me an EPC light, and put me into limp mode). but, im sure your MS3 is different than my GTI

I did some data logging tonight:
Meth brought my boost air temps from 86.00F (before I went WOT) to 55.62F under 19PSI of boost.
It has also completely gotten rid of knock lol!
I'll do some runs tomorrow back after back with meth on and without and post the logs.

Be sure to turn on the knock sensor all the way to redline so you get a better picture of what is going on. On all COBB OTS maps, the knock sensor turns off at 5700 RPM.

It also improves fuel economy, so I have it kick in at 5.00 PSI - and I seem to hit boost a lot recently :D
Do you know if your friends were running theirs out of their windshield washer container - or did they have a separate container?

they all have a separate container out the back..they all bought the AEM kit

I went through a tank of meth (washer fluid reservoir) in one tank of gas. Hopefully the novelty of flooring it will wear out sometime soon...

You know it won't lol!
We got to get your meth sorted out now!

I've been considering this, can you also run low octane gas now since the meth retards detonation? Did you buy direct from snow performance?

yes and no.
my GTI is tuned for 94, but i run 91, and havent had an problems.
the meth is used mostly for increaed octane, and cooler intake temps.

Always run 91+. You will run into problems (blown engine) if the system runs out if meth and you're unaware and decide to beat on the car.

I'm seriously considering a meth kit. Seeing there are two kits, one with a pressure switch and the other off the MAF sensor. Looks like Snow Performance has both (stage 1 & 2?), AEM I only saw with the pressure switch. Can we run either one, or is one type preffered for the Speed3? Where did you tap into the air stream? Any pictures of where you tapped into the MAF sensor (or placed the switch) and where you put the nozzle would be greatly appreciated.
If you guys are really considering meth kits, PM me... ASAP. ;)

Stage 2 Boost Cooler™
This kit uses manifold boost pressure to determine when and how much fluid to inject. Proportionally injecting according to boost pressure gives the most accurate delivery of water-methanol and allows the most cooling and performance improvement over the widest range. More power and driveability is the result. It can be used on any forced induction engine: carbureted, fuel injected, turbocharged, positive displacement or centrifugal blowers. The most suitable are the centrifugal supercharged and turbocharged engines, as they build boost is a more progressive manner concerning water-methanol injection. The positive displacement blower engines will work, but it might take more work to dial in the delivery. For higher boost applications (over 25psi), the controller can be upgraded to our VC100 unit. Now with Lifetime Warranty - please see details.
Kit includes:
• UHO (Ultra High Output) Pump
• 3 Quart Reservoir
• Digital Variable Controller
• 2 Nozzles To Cover a Wide Range of Horsepower
• All Required Hardware Needed For Installation
• Comprehensive Instructions
Don't forget about these great optional upgrades!
Boost Juice
49% methanol, 51% water, and shipped to your door ready to use!
Nitro Booster
A special blend of nitro-methane and other ingredients to increase the power of your gasoline application!
--- Upgradable to stage3 kit, as mentioned above.

So whats a better kit? The snow performance or aem? Will you notice any difference on stock tune?
