Hey everyone,

My name is Troy Stewart and I've been a lurker for quite some time, but now that I have graduated school I am purchasing a Mazda 3 Sport! Thanks to this forum, and RFD, I have contacted Jeff- TheBiz, and he is nothing short of spectacular. Being a first time buyer, he made things 100x better than any of our local dealers, that is for sure!

We just gotta approved and we should have the car in a week (or so). It is a Mazda 3 Sport GX with a/c and auto trans, Gunmetal Blue. I eventually will go standard (I think) but me and my gf both only know auto, so we will have to learn sometime.

Any tips for a new car owner?

Congratulations on your new purchase bud!

Rustproofing would be the first but I guess you have that covered already. Mods will come. This forum will entice you. :)

Welcome and enjoy the car. I agree with you 100% buying a new car for the first time is a big deal :) and the rewards of it are worth it :). Tips for sure would be rustproofing and maybe clear bra the front bumper for rock chips and tint

Welcome and congrats on the purchase!!! :thumbsup:welcome smiley

I would say get the calipers painted and tint the windows as Mazdy had mentioned. :) You don't want the sun burning your skin now that summer is upon us. :D

Thanks for all the replies :)

We were thinking of getting Krown and tinting for sure, a person I work with should be able to get me tinting done cheap (husband is a mechanic and knows people).

We were looking at the clear bra/bug guard as well, but not sure how necessary it is.

The year is a 2011, as Jeff did not have a Gunmetal Blue Sport GX for 2010.

Should be picking it up early next week, and then I will post lots of pics :)

Thanks again for the responses :) I think the hardest part now is the wait.

Quick question: should I get Krown done now, to prevent any dirt build up? Or wait until this coming fall?

Welcome! I'm new too, and hoping to be getting a car from Jeff soon as well.

How did you find your experience? Did you test drive both the hatchback and the sedan before deciding on the one you got?

Yea, we did a lot of test driving, both the hatch and sedan, and all the trim levels as well. We also rented the Mazda 3 sedan one weekend as well. We test drove the new Sonata, Elantra, Accent, Santa Fe, Rio, Civic, Matrix, and Corolla too :)

Originally we were looking at the GS, but didn't find it worth the extra cost. We like the hatch due to the looks and versatility we can get out of our first vehicle. We liked the 2010 with the silver "buck tooth" as we call it but couldn't afford a car then.

Hmm, interesting. I was thinking of the GS Sport/Sedan. If you don't mind, may I ask why you didn't find it worth the extra cost?

With the amount of equipment in the GX level, we didn't feel the additional cost of the GS trim was worth it, especially with the worse fuel economy. Cruise control would have been nice, but we figured for a first car we didn't need it. The steering wheel controls were not to our liking either.

I'd say if you want the GS, get it, the extra power is nice. For us, our first car didn't need all the additional features.

Welcome to TM3!! Tips? Hmmmm. Wax or apply sealant to make it shine and protect that paint. Use good stuff.

My opinion; Get it Krowned ASAP, like I mean drive from the dealer straight to Krown!-The sooner the better. Also have the vehicle clayed and waxed ASAP.A new vehicle will pick-up alot of rail dust in it's transport to the dealer.

Apologies for the slight hijack, but how often should your vehicle get krowned? Every year around fall time before winter? So he would krown it now, and in the fall, then start going annual in the fall?

Yes it needs to be sprayed once a year. But I would suggest doing it now and then again in the early spring. Then in the spring for the life of the car thereafter. Two reasons for this; One; Krown warranty on 'New vehicles' the application must be performed each year within 3 months of anniversary of first application.2; Early spring is the best choice for spraying as that is when salt will become 'Active', hense the need for the second premature spray in the early spring. If anyone is unsure about this, check out the Krown site for full details...Hope that helps.

Just picked up our car last night from Jeff. Spectacular service (despite the rain and snow). Quick, easy, painless. Nice to have the freedom a car provides, and the sportiness of the Mazda 3.

Will upload pics once the weather gets better. Thanks for all of the oil talk it has been helpful and informative :)
