What's the best place to buy a Spin-On Filter Adapter? Do any of the forum sponsors carry them? Better still, is there a non-ON based sponsor that carries them? Your 13% HST is BRUTAL! I don't know how you guys do it.

Just realized you are from AB. PM FLIPDADY (Joe).

Will do, thanks. Didn't realize it was an OEM accessory. I thought it was strictly aftermarket.

It's basically the 2.0L filter setup.

Yes it is the 2.0L oil filter set up, any of the dealer sponsors can get it but shipping would be expensive. try local dealership first should be around $60 retail for everything

also I used the K&N filter just cause it's small (allows for install without worry of filter sitting against spalsh gaurd) and still has a bypass valve which apparently the stock unit has and I did not want to mess with. Google filter choices there is something on mazda3 usa that has a lot of info.

Yep. Stopped by my dealership and bought the part. Cost me $55 all told, and should be here late next week (ironically, waiting for it to come from TO).

I want to use a K&N filter too. Which # do you use?

Damned long weekend. It would have been great to have it in hand and doing it right now. Glorious spring day with nothing on the go this afternoon until family dinner at my mum's.

When I install it, I'm flushing it and changing over to Motul and K&N filters. Thanks for the head's up on the filter # Theo.

No worries, it's an easy enough job just make sure you have some wrench extenders to get the bolts on and off and some teflon tape for around the oil sensor.
Good luck.
