So, long time lurker, (close to) first time poster on TM3 as I spend most of my time over at msf.

After a quick scan of both boards, I have conflicting information about stock suspension and warranty coverage. My suspension, especially the rears, feels like it's on it's way out on my 08.5 MS3 (~55.5k) and it has been progressively worse/more noticeable since I put my summer wheels back on. I double checked that the wheels were good and tight and the tire pressure is spot on. I am not leaking from the suspension at all, but that may not be far off. Every bump on my drive home is being felt a lot more and I'm starting to feel the car being less tight through the corners.

My question is this: is stock suspension covered under the standard/extended warranty, or would they do something similar to what my buddy got on his jeep and they covered parts, he covered labour (goodwill repair), or am I out in the cold on this one? I know that if I go to Guelph Mazda without the right information, I'm just going to end up wasting my time.

If it's not covered under the normal/extended warranty, what kind of can of worms am I going to open for my warranty if I install aftermarket/non-OEM suspension?

Typically everything is covered under the 3 year 60K comprehensive warranty. However, if you're just over you may be able to contact Mazda Canada and they may be able to do something for you. Not sure if this is a known issue but if Mazda has a service bulletin out for this issue, then they recognize that there is a problem and even if your car is past the 3 year/60, they will still cover it under warranty.
Your owner's manual will also tell you what is and is not covered under the warranty and what the coverage period is.

The typical warranty is 80K/36mth. These are definitely covered, or at least should be so don't take any flack. If your suspension components are still completely stock than talk to your dealership.

My socks were covered under the standard 80k/3 years, however they are NOT covered under my 160k/6 year MAP warranty.

They'd be pretty smelly by that point...your socks that is... :)

To the OP. Yes, they should be covered in the 3yr/80K, but don'tbe surprised if a dealer advisor tries to tell you they are not and are a wear item.

Interesting that the dealer would try to pull a "wear-and-tear" on something that would have 0 cost to them in the long run to fix and would potentially make me a repeat customer (Unlikely...).

Now I just have to find a day that I can live without my car to drop it off for an inspection!
