guys,

did some searching on this forum regarding the magnaflow exhaust system, and alot of stuff did come up...but alot was related to the magnaflow on a regular 3.

for the guys that currently have this exhaust on their cars, what's your impression?

how does it compare to stock and is it worth the upgrade?

and also, those guys who opted to go with a different brand, cp-e, borla, hks etc..what is your take on this?

thanks alot.

SpellingChampian runs this exhaust. Hopefully he can chime in here with his opinion on dealing with it daily.

Overall, it is quite a bit louder than stock. From the outside, it is loud but not obnoxious. From the inside, you can hear it throughout the rev range and I find you have to speak a little louder to overcome the exhaust note. Mind you, SpellingChampian (Alex) also has an aftermarket downpipe which adds to the decibels.

I for one like to keep my car as quiet as possible. As a result, I still run the stock cat back and will not change it unless it becomes a flow restriction to making power :-)

IMO...i dont know how it works on the Speed3 but i used to have MS3 exhaust on my MZ3...so...

MS3 exhaust is louder than Magna...i used to have MS3 exhaust then i switched to Magna because Magna has a deeper sound...not too loud in the inside but outside you will get notice as you drive around not that its loud but it has a deep roar and it sounds nice as ur rpm goes up

I like the exhaust note (not too loud tho) but my theory is I want to enjoy every moment I'm driving this car and if you want to talk to me, then you'll just have to wait till' we get where we're going!!

I'm running the Borla not the Magnaflow ;P

I've also run the Mazdaspeed 3 Exhaust as well. The Mazdaspeed 3 upgraded one sounded great at first, then all the welds crapped out and it just kept on leaking (probably after a year). The Borla has a 5" tip, which is realllly huge and to be honest attracts a lot of attention. It sounds amazing though :D and has a 1 million mile warranty.

It really comes down to sound signature preference. If you're hoping to make more power with a cat-back, you're better off spending your money on something else. The stock cat-back it's a very smooth, straight, large diametre piece of kit.

If you want a nice growl noise, just have your resonator(s) cut out. $70 at any exhaust shop. You aren't going to gain power with a cat back, you need a downpipe for that.
