Hello guys,

I hope I didn't post this in a wrong section. I tired to look up ECU but no results came back. I want to know if anyone has any insight on the location of the ECU, and instruction on removing it?

any advice is welcomed! thank you all

If it's anything like the Gen 1, it should be right next to the battery in the engine compartment. You need to remove the entire battery tray to get the ECU out.

Yup, directly attached to the battery compartment (left side when you're looking from the front of the car). It has a small plastic cover and should have two large harnesses going into it.

Thanks guys, the reason i needed the ecu taken out is because the AP messed up the ECU during re-flash. I gathered some information from other forums including COBBforum. It seems like the AP lost communication to the pcm while flashing, leaving my pcm blank. So, tomorrow I`ll need to contact COBB and have a case set up so I can send my AP and ecu back to them to have it fix. Thank you... everyone.. for their inputs! :thumbsup

That sucks, hopefully they can get it resolved asap.

You may want to speak with Cobb before you remove the ECU, just in case they can get it to reflash without sending the ECU to them.

That's too bad. Did you accidentally disconnect the cord or something while flashing?

the cord was always plugged in... it's just the status bar didn't show up at all and 2 seconds later it says the reflash is done.. then i know something is wrong.

I Contacted Cobb this mornin and talked to a customer representative, he said that it's no problem and I had my ecu and ap taken out and shipped out this afternoon. The rep was very helpful and I should expect my ecu to return by Friday. Thank you everyone for your input, the process of removing the ecu for me is a bit hard cuz I have the heat shield from the k&n filter... But a little wiggling here and there the battery box finally came out.

Thank you again everyone for their help!

That's good to hear.

Did they figure out why it happened to begin with? I'd hate to go through all this only to have the ECU get fried again after the first flash you try.

I believe this is why COBB asks for your AP to be shipped as well so they can check both out.

To my understanding, this isn't supposed to happen ever since they developed the recovery mode to prevent ecu lockups from interrupted flash. The recovery mode should make the the ecu to wait for a complete flash. However, mine was stuck in installed mode. During the flash the status bar didn't show up and all of a sudden it says the flash was completed after 2 seconds... I was like no way... The cobb rep said that it jumped to the finish line but the AP thought the flash was completed, hence the lockup with no flash at all. I believe what they are going to do is extract the stock map from my AP and flash it back onto my ecu? Hopefully it works out fine...:(
