I am very excited to have the opportunity to tune this ride, which I haven't officially driven yet. It's a well-maintained 2008.5 MS3 that deserves all the goodies that has been showered on her.
ATP's GT3071 w/ A/R 0.50, FMIC, Ex-Mani, 3" DP/CBE, 3-port EBCS
This is the dyno log of the custom base map we started off with, but w/ 2-port EBCS:
Cliff's note: map from dyno tune [not by me], maxed out wastegate, slow CL/OL transition, safe AFR but not smooth, boost curve could use some work...274g/s.

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-SaSgKvv0cqY/TeWzhwJOdII/AAAAAAAAEJE/6rRSQs-_L_4/j-dyno-maf.jpg
I then made a base map for the owner to expose [at/just above] wastegate spring pressure and to smooth things out. After a couple days and about 6 sets of logs, this is where we are at. This is also with an EBCS in 3-port...we made it work, and you can see the low and steady WGDC logged. Street tuned, 292g/s.

We're currently still working to ramp up boost onset and smooth out AFR. Since a new intake is coming, we'll hold off on a fresh MAF calc until that's in. We're also looking to get meth in the along with an OCC. A cleaning of the FMIC is also in order. So stay tuned...and did I mention, I'm excited to drive the beast? :headbang

Back seat passenger needed? :P
And we all know that in order to balance the two sides, you'll need 2 passengers... :)
Fobio, are you using Boost or Load tuning for this?

Thanks! Not done yet tho!

sure thing...when we're done! tuning is best done with just the driver and no passeengers.

once we're done, we'll likely hold the seminar at my condo's party room. we *MAY* have the beast there for demo rides.
this is all done through load tuning.

Go 3076...lol...
Just for reference....
this car dyno'd 325whp @ 274g/s on the dyno...
so I wonder what kind of power it'll be putting down @ 292g/s...
the beast also put down 404wtrq on the dyno...which we'd actually want to lose...lol...the tune is planned to give up some max trq in the lower rpms and shift the load/power curve slightly to the right to perhaps increase max whp. We'll get on the dyno soon enough when my car's ready to rumble.

Looking into the details as to how to balance out informative and entertaining/fun. We'll likely film it or have a feed to it somehow.

it'd be my honour and pleasure. =) no firm pricing yet!

Must not get idea's to go big turbo...LOL

we've been looking into the lean sport and I've figured that it's likely a leak after MAF but before turbo, which is why it's sucking unmetered air and causing a lean spot. Once it's confirmed and fixed, we'll move on to the new intake and meth. Can't wait!

Stock MAP sensor I presume?

yeah, but owner has the BOSCH 3-bar MAP sensor ready!

Owner took on an BMW M6... Not some Mazda6. Told me and verified 338g/s! I drove the car and with 3 ppl in car it goes like a raped ape. Can't wait til we get more logs and go on dyno!

338g/s. Now we're talking! Is this still at the 19-20PSI at redline?
That's definitely enough flow to watch the fuel gauge drop as you go WOT. Haha.

funny thing is, tune hasn't changed for the past week to week and a half. owner just tightened clamps...lol... found an intake leak, hot pipe leak and prolly other leaks...lol...still might have a slight leak at intake side, cuz the logs I've seen so far shows a 3-row lean spot...
Any guesses on what 338g/s nets in whp?
BlueStreak
06-17-2011, 01:57 PM
Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that. WGDC was pegged at 100% for a large chunk of the pull.
I have no idea on the whp estimates. The proof of the pudding is in the eating ;-) DYNO!

According to this nifty calculator (http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbotech.html), 338g/s puts you at about 365(w?)hp.

finally did MAF Calibrations...we'll see if we have logs to share!

How much air are you flowing after the MAF cal?
Fobio
06-20-2011, 07:12 PM
Maf calibration work was mostly for lower load/rpm and part throttle. The WOT lean spot I'm attributing to a small rpm range that was possibly reading 4% less air. Bumped that up.
No logs yet ESP since it'll take some kms for this map to learn. Logs soon I hope!

just a little update.
tuning, moving over to v102 and more tuning, has yielded about +40whp/+70wtrq...

Using the beta v102 map, I've attempted to boost tune the car while keeping some of the load related tables relevant. Such as the TRL tables along with the WGD - LEC table. This is in hopes of using the ECU's capabilities to control boost and power. I've found that despite zeroed LD table, the LEC table still has authority over boost control. I've since zeroed LEC and have upped WGDC to make up for it.
The one thing that I can't show in logs is the owner loving part throttle when LEC was active vs the car being sluggish with it is now zeroed. I will likely use a less aggressive left side for LEC to help make lower rpm power. This strategy seems sound for summer. We shall see.

Wow good job Guys... Huge Gains!
Good stuff. It's really satisfying to see the MS3 tuning scene coming alive in the GTA.

This is likely the 2nd final map for this owner. Flow is definitely better in the new cars. 4th gear log.

The fact that you hide timing values is killing me :P
I'll be game for a dyno session soon once all the Toronto BT guys get their stuff sorted out.

So here's basically the log from the final map and the VD runs to back up the gains. I think a dyno day is in short order...
For now, I think the owner can claim an easy 340whp/390wtrq.
