View Full Version : Eibach Pro-kit or Sportline? or Tein Springs?

Hey guys, I'm sure there have been many threads about lowering springs, but that time has come for my car. I have a 2005 GS Sedan with 79,000km and I want to grab some lowering springs, but I seem to be torn between a drop of 1.2" to 1.4" (prokit) or a more aggressive drop from the eibach sportlines. I'm just keeping the winter months in mind, and I'm wondering what you guys suggest or how you guys deal with the drop during the winter.
I'm also considering buying tein springs as well, so any one that could provide some pro's/con's would be great!
and lastly, would it be smart to change the OEM shocks to Koni shocks for example? Or would I be okay with the OEM part?
Thanks!!

i had sportlines on stock shocks and the ride was bad. so that being said you could get koni yellows and make your ride a little more comfortable
As for winter i had no problems at all

No need to double post
LOL yea i just saw this post here but he posted in the general section >_>
anyways
"i just got my prokits installed yesterday on a 2011 mazda 3 sport with 4500km on it.
i like how its low but not to low so that i have issues with scrapping underneath but then again the springs still needs about 1-2 weeks to settle in and it'll be a bit lower then it is now... my only concern is that if i added a lip thats when it might start scrapping lol.
still gotta do alignment after it settles in too. "

Yeah, my bad with the double post...whatever haha. I had my eyes on the pro kit but I don't know if it'll be as big of a difference from stock springs...that's why I'm leaning more towards the sportlines

Pro-kits make a big difference over stock in looks and ride. Sportlines you will be slammed and plowing all winter long.

That was me this winter. Look amazing in the summer but when winter comes, i get scared shitless. It also caused me to crack my side skirt...

If you think about it... You're spending around 250 on springs and within a year or so another 700 on struts... Might as well just save up for coils, no? Then you can slam it in the summer and still have a reasonable ride height in the winter.
I'm on pro-kits now. I like the look, but I got the itch to go lower so I'll probably pick up coilovers next summer.

is it true that you need to replace the stock shocks after 1-2 years on prokits?

Yes...depends ...if u feel that ur ride is getting uncomfortable then that means time to replace the stock shocks...
Some people replace them after 1-2 years just to be safe..some people had them for 4 years and they said ride is still good..

a little off topic, but does anyone know much the mazdaspeed accessory coil overs cost? and in terms of performance/sustainability how do they compare with say a Tein, or BC?

prokits and koni yellows. Safest route. Thats what I am on. Only had them for a few weeks and its my first time modding a car. So i can't compare. But from what I've read I went with prokits. Not agressive but still a noticeable drop.

maybe a stupid question...but when using coilovers....do you need to get your alignment re-done every time you adjust the height??

when i lowered mine a little more at the beginning of the spring i didn't go for an alignment yet although I should just in case something is off.
Coils aren't THAT expensive..it all depends on the branding.

If you run a set of winters and summers, its always a smart thing to get an alignment done in the spring when you switch over to the summer set. During that time you can change up the settings on the coilovers and get everything done at one shot.
