My car wont start and the security indicator light keeps flashing, it is the one that depicts the car with a key in the middle. Has this happened to anyone? I get power to the radio/gauges/ac but the engine wont crank and that security light keeps flashing rapidly.

:whoa already?
I did a search and lots or people had this issue with the car. They said its a security immobilizer... or I might have to get the keys re-programmed but just wanted to check with you guys first.

Yup... both keys go in and the gauges work/ac/radio work... it doesnt dim or lose power and when I crank it the red flashing icon with the key inside of the car flashes rapidly.

Stolen keys? What?!! :chuckle
Jokes aside, hope you get it all sorted out. Sorry, can't be of any help, never experienced that on my car..
Pretty sure you have to take it back to the dealer to reprogram the keys. Not sure why it would lose settings like that.

I am taking it back today. Not sure why both sets of keys would lose its settings. It could be the starter because the battery is fairly new.

The keys have been working fine since I picked up the car but just this morning it wont crank.
Well, if the keys are fine, you could try stepping down harder on the clutch... Maybe the starter circuit is messing up? But I'm pretty sure when that happens the immobilizer doesn't flash. Pretty sure something is wrong with your ECU/stored key pairs. Did the dealer swap the cluster at some point?
yeah this happen to my car before
ohh wait this is my car

Where is the clutch switch/relay located? I will check that out as a last resort before I get it towed to the dealer. Someone also mentioned disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes to reset the ECU.
fuse box under the hood
there is a fuse i think its called key 1 key 2
pull them out and put back in then try it

it's supposed to be behind and on top of the clutch pedal.

Flashing "key" symbol = bad chip or bad immobilizer...........

flashing Key/security light means that the system does not recognize the key.
you either have an issue with the transponder receiver around the ignition cylinder, the immobilizer system itself is done for (needs new cluster), the transponder in your keys are busted, or, as MPS mentioned since it was his car many moons ago, the fuses are out of whack.
if pulling the fuses and re-seating them don't work, you're looking at a trip to the dealer to diagnose.

Thanks for the info... I am getting it towed after work. Would I still be able to jump start it?

Different car, but we had this problem on my wife's Civic. That key would flash whenever the hell it wanted. Turned out that the battery was dying, actually, it wasn't properly charging due to a bad connect in the battery terminal lug.

info pulled from the 2007-2009 service manual:

There should be a code(s) stored in your ECU...if you have a OBD2 scan tool, you can check for the specific codes. Also, the security light flash sequence can correspond to a trouble code:

When I got home from work yesterday I tried starting the car one more time and it worked. I thought it was a lose wire so I checked all the fuses/ecu for any lose wires and ended up finding a lose fuse. I drove the car to Mississauga and ran a few errands all the while turning off and starting the car back up in the process about 4 or 5 times and it started fine each time.. As I went to go leave my girlfriends house at 11pm the car wouldnt start again! I am taking the car to the dealer today and getting it looked at. It must be something with the security immobilizer.

What you are describing is exactly what happened to my wife's car. We had it towed to SP because we thought the car was pooched; Jim got it running in 5 minutes, and cleaned the terminal / terminal lug. We haven't had a problem since.

My wife's car also randomly refused to start. Turned out to be a loose connection in the ignition switch. If it doesn't start try wiggling the steering wheel with the key turned and see if it helps.

The dealer said someone installed a remote starter and when they took it out they left some of the old wires in which was conflicting with the ignition/security immobizer. They also gave me two new keys and reprogrammed them. Everything works great now.
