Hi all,

My engine light came on last week. I have about 150,000kms on my 2004 Mazda 3. There's no noises and the car runs perfectly (or as it has been for the past whatever years). I don't just want to bring it into a mechanic shop without any idea of what it could be since they usually rape you when this happens. Is there anything that anyone knows about that could cause an engine problem that I could be suffering?

thanks.

you can get your car scanned to see what the code is..just ask if anyone is willing to scan it for you :)

You need to find another mechanic. If you can't trust a mechanic to be straight with you, why would you let him work on your car?

Did you fill up gas recently?

coriolis - I may have filled up gas just before the light came on yes. I checked the gas cap and it was on properly.

phil05gx - Would a mechanic scan the car for the code? Can you elaborate a little further please?

Noisy Crow - Never met a mechanic i can trust fully. Especially at the Mazda dealerships. That's why i'd rather go in knowing what the issue could be.

PartSource does free scans if there's one in your area.

Cosmo - I actually meant outside of these forums, that's why I come here for help. The dealings i've had with everyone here have been very pleasant and most helpful.
However, if you got screwed over by your Mazda dealership like I did, you would have the same hesitation that I do.

Thanks a bunch phil05gx for helping me scan my CEL code. Will start a new thread to see what this code means.
