Hi all,
I've been checking out your forums for a little while now, as I've been searching for a Mazda 3, but haven't actually posted yet until now. I found, what I think is, a pretty good Mazda 3. It's a 2007, on about 65 km, for a decent price; however, when I took it to CAA to be looked at, the mechanic there said that the left front strut and one of the rear shocks were both in rough shape and needed to be replaced. I informed the dealership of this, who had their mechanic look at it again, and he declared that he felt the strut and shocks were worn, but no more so than would be expected with a 4 year old car.
I guess I'm just looking for opinions on this? The dealership has said they will not replace them, as they feel it is unnecessary. They are willing to knock the price down on the car though.
If you were in my shoes, what would you do? I appreciate any advice you can give, as I'm quite frankly stumped...I like the car, like the features, like the mileage and the price, but I can't really afford to replace the struts and shocks right after buying it (CAA mechanic said expected cost would be around 1000-1200 dollars).
Thanks!
Chris
