Is it possible to have hyperlinks and images saved on the TM3 server so that when people do search for certain topics in the future – the link is not broken?

Often there is a how-to where the OP moves the hosted pic and all you see are red X’s or the hyper link is a dead web site.

Broken Pics (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?37702-How-To-Make-ur-foot-wells-glow)

Broken Hyper link (http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?8527-Another-possible-DRL-bypass-for-HIDs)

Just my 2 cents

A lot of people host their own images and this is why over time some get broken.

It would cost a lot more to host every image on the TM3 server. Also, every time someone created a thread we would have to fix the links so that they were connected to the TM3 server. Far too much work and effort is required for this.

IMO people should never delete images on photobucket, etc because you have practically unlimited space. Why delete them? I never do even for other old forums up to 5+ years ago.

What I have been trying to do is archive certain How-Tos that are good and that way if the images do go down we can relink them. Unfortunately we can't do this for everything.

The HID thread is really old and there are newer methods for installation anyway. If we can replace the old with new that would be better anyway.

I'm guilty of moving pics around in flickr LOL

yeah - I knew it would be a lot of work. Maybe going forward, pics get hosted on TM3 and hyper links get a copy-and-paste quote.

Also, stickied topics need a clean up (as you mentioned). A lot is outdated.

Anyone want to help out with the stickies? I have a whole bunch archived from M3F that are useful and will be putting up here when I have time. I am ok with anyone making new ones to replace the old.

The problem though too is that there can still be some useful posts in the old stickies so we will have to be careful how we clean everything up.
