Saw this on RFD... I can imagine if this happened at a 3 meet, people would be pissed.. but to have a 50 -60 yr old car damaged....

Don't want to speculate too much since I don't have the details, particularly how she so dramatically lost control of her vehicle in such as a way as to pull that feat off but...

If there was a good reason for manoeuvring that lead to the incident, such as a kid in the street or a medical emergency (looks doubtful though), then better a car than a person.

Illegal or not, there's always those people that do not care for what can happen to them and to people around them.. But, if you ever get a chance to drive wearing sandals or flip flops, just take them off and drive barefoot. I think it's safer that way... :)

i also don't believe this as ive seen many ppl driving in sandals or flip flops. also it makes no sense, your shoe lace could get caught in the pedal just as easily as a flip flop or sandal.

I dont know if it's illegal but you are correct, cops REALLY frown upon it. And it is definately more dangerous than shoes. The problem is the flip flop can get stuck or flip under. Same with high heels, you should NEVER wear those while driving. I always change them before driving.

The way I/(and everyone else here on TM3) can make the assumption that older asian women are bad drivers.

When was the last time I've seen a non-caucausian roll up in a 1970s Dodge Charger? I was born/raised in Canada. I've never seen an asian man own a vintage ride.

All I can say is we need a MUCH stricter and much tougher licensing system in ontario / canada. I don't care if you come from a f*cking commonwealth colony. That doesn't entitle you to a canadian drivers license. Especially when they come from a country that drives on a different side of the road then us, or a country with very few stop signs and street lights.....etc.

No side impact beams until 1970. So the LeMans would have folded. Plus who know how good the restoration was, could have been hidden rust too.

Not really, I dare you to run into a 1972 lincoln and tell me what happens.
Problem with body on frame was the occupants got more force transfer from collisions, now cars are designed to fold to save the passenger.
A good example is in 1970 Chyrsler Barracuda and Challengers, had there understructure of their hoods changed mid year to have fold points (crumple zone), instead of the hood being pushed thru the windshield.

Even at todays standards if your car is 'parked' and someone 'broadsides' you with almost 2 tons of metal at 20-30kph, the 'parked' vehicle is going to be TOAST.Especially from the side!.Those old vehicles were build tough, stronger, better metal then today, but no crush zones, or 'cages' engineered in.I'll bet if the LeMans broadsided the Lexus, the lexus would be worse off.
