Yes, the 918 would be...I'll take the $900,000 nearly 900hp hybrid hyper car over some crummy Datsun.

I could happily substitute the 918 for basically any McLaren (12c, 650s, F1, P1) if you'd like.

I can't imagine any rational reason why someone would opt for a modified import over a brand new hyper car given money being no object. I love the Supra too but honestly, I'd never take one over the latest gen hyper cars.

I went to an exotic car show today. I saw 10 Lambos, 20 Porsches, Ferraris by the armful, a Mclaren MP4-12C, numerous impeccable vintage muscle cars. However, this by far was the nicest car I saw today - an Auburn boattail at Shops at Don Mills, as witnessed by the continual crowd around it.

the 458 doesnt do anything for me. (i talk like i know what im talking about) when i would take a 430 over most any ferrari. I would rather have a 911TT or a e90 v10 though, and those are actually attainable for car guys. The thing i would fear is the repairs/maintinance. Which is why a supra/silvia/celica seem to be a choice of mine or a c6z

If you're ever looking at used Ferraris on auto trader, and find a "cheap" one, chances are, the owner hasn't done the scheduled maintenance yet.

Oh yeah, for sure. No Ferrari that is going for "cheap" will be easy on maintenance. For the longest time I wanted an F355. The sound that thing makes gives me goose bumps. But then I read about all the maintenance issues it has. If I want anything that is even remotely maintenance equivalent to my 7, I'm looking at 360 Modena's or F430's.
I'm not too keen on the 360 shape. I'd much prefer an F430. But finding one with a real gated shifter is next to impossible. And right now they're still going for too much money. Granted, a hell of alot cheaper than when it was new. But still rated at 89-115G's for a nice example.
I think I'll stick with my rotary. :)

Yep. I've been reading up and watching his vids regarding the 360. He's not really a good example of a person getting a Ferrari they really like. He's doing it mainly because it's a good story. Getting to drive a Ferrari is just a bonus. In the end he's just looking to sell the car.
I try to keep in touch with people who have actually owned and operated these vehicles for longer than their warranty period allow.
Which is why I make it a note to attend Ferrari day up at Mosport most years. I get to meet alot of regular folks who were able to obtain the "impossible".

And no, I wouldn't sell my FD for anything. It's the only "dream car" I've had since I was a teenager. She's basically a part of me.

I've read some of that stuff; it reads to me more like "Hey guys, look at me, I have a 360. Please read this and be jealous of how awesome my life is because I have a Ferrari."

Frankly, it's a 360. They're ~50-55K for crap examples now and up to ~80K for good ones. I priced out a new E350 at Mercedes today, and it was 80K.

That being said, I understand why they do it. It's awesome traffic to their (already high-traffic) site, and that's ultimately what matters. The exposure that car brings them puts food on the table, which is great.

Don't forget it prom season right now. So you're going to see more than a few teenagers driving exotic cars. The exotic rentals has taken off lately.

Today I attended The Glory Days of Speed. Unfortunately the event was a bit of a bust. I guess they thought Canada would have the same amount of pull the real Goodwood Festival of Speed has. There were very few attendees. Maybe in a few years it'll get bigger.

Regardless, of the cars that showed up, I think these 2 were the nicest ones there. :)

Oh yeah. The v8 in the f355 mated to the tubi exhaust is phenomenal!
The only v8 that sounds correct. Unfortunately it'll never sound like that again. Government regulations and all that.
The only other street cars that come with an awesome exhaust note would be the Ferrari F50 and the Carrera GT.
Otherwise nothing can touch the sound of the 4 rotor 787b. :)

Not sure where the original is heading for the event, but it is getting tuned along with regular maintenance. It put out 580 something on the dyno, but couldn't complete the tuning as there is a time attack monster strapped in needing some last minute tuning for weekend race.
