An interesting read. Who do you think was 'in the wrong'? I liked how those passengers didn't budge when the supervisor asked them to get off.

The whole situation is a mess that could've been easily stopped by simply ignoring the woman. I think the TTC driver's at fault for losing his cool. At the end of the day, he is delivering customer service to his passengers and must adhere to these kinds of situations.

woowwww.. that driver is a whiny bitch. And no wonder the supervisor knocked it out of her hands... they've been getting such a bad reputation lately from all the proof of their BS all over youtube.

Good for the passengers for not moving!!! People are paying A LOT of money for the service, the drivers need to ignore small stuff like that, unless they're being assaulted and their life is in danger... $110 or whatever it is now/month is crazy expensive, I don't even pay that in gas. If I'm paying that much I expect service to be on time and for the operators to just (not so lightly put, but) shut up and do their job like the rest of us in this world.

I Agree, HOWEVER... I also believe that HE should have the right to refuse services as well.
In MANY customer service situations, if the employee / rep feels threatened they have the right to refuse service for their own safety. Delays and traffic are a daily evil we all deal with. Especially with a streetcar. Its not like it can really detour, or go around stopped cars. Many, im not saying all...but many people look down on TTC drivers, or "service" drivers in general. Yes it sucks when services are late, or if you have to wait ... blah blah blah. Leave early, take a different route, or find a method of transport that is more reliable.

TTC Drivers, are not personal chauffeurs. I dont think anyone in any field should have to put up with irate customers. The particular customer was within a station. Yes she paid her fare - but she also could have waited for the next streetcar without having to pay again. So the whole fare issue should be moot. A $3.00 fare doesn't entitle anyone to yell at another person.
Yes.. I take the TTC. Have for many years. I prefer it over many methods of transport because i can rest, save on gas and parking. But frankly, I know the limitations and downfalls of the TTC service. If i need to make it somewhere that I cant risk these type of issues or delays... I drive. Even with driving you cant predict delays.

I dont think its cool that they are targeted like that. There is BS in every field.
Its unfortunate that it seems like more and more people are just out to catch someone doing something bad.

Hmm, well, nobody can say for sure what exactly happened except for the people that are in the streetcar themselves. We can all speculate only on things that are shown on the news... But based on the statements of the involved persons, it does seem like it's not totally necessary to cancel the whole service because of a simple misunderstanding between a passenger and the driver. I mean, I used to take the bus, and the frequency that these things happen can easily be summed up to about 5 - 10 per month. During these times, the percentage that a driver will stop the vehicle and cancel the service is very low (unless it's an absolute necessity that the service be stopped due to serious matters)....

In my opinion, they could have just let it go, just let the passenger say whatever she wanted to say, let it in in one ear and out on the other ear and just let it pass... Or maybe the driver should have said exactly why the streetcar was late (I'm sure there's a valid reason why, or maybe not). Unforeseen stuff happen all the time, there's a reason for everything... I used to work in a customer service environment and cranky customers are the most difficult to deal with. But, even if they act that way, somebody could always be the bigger person and think maturely, and just take in the situation as an adult... Anger cannot resolve anger...

Why was the streetcar 40 minutes late? Was there an annoucement at the station? Did the TTC attempt to use shuttle buses?

Lots of questions.

The link to the video is down ... I wonder how much of it is shown. City News has the video.

Could have been handled much better, but with the way traffic is, it's not like street cars and buses have dedicated lanes like subways, they are late because of tons of crap that happens on the road. Sure as a passenger it's annoying but as a driver having to listen to everyone who gets upset about it, is equally as annoying.

Plus the Driver is entitled to a break when they pull into a station washroom, drink, snack whatever (I just hate when they pull a smoke break). However he could have handled it better and passengers needs to handle themselves better too just because you pay to ride the bus it's not a right but a privilege. I can see why so many drivers are so wound up the passengers treat them like **** most of the time and act like idiots on the bus and when they Bus driver tells them to move so it's easier and safer for other people they get told off or ignored.

Oh, I'm sorry, do YOU enjoy sitting in downtown Toronto traffic and using the clutch + gears over and over for hours on end when you can get somewhere 10x faster by using the subway or streetcar?

I apologize for having to actually GET somewhere.
