Just curious how people feel about buying shocks on eBay... legit or not? I know there are a lot of scams going around with mock iPhones and whatnot, is it a possibility that something like shocks could be replicated using cheap materials and sold online?
I'm looking into these:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/KYB-GR2-STRUTS-SHOCKS-04-05-06-07-MAZDA-3-FULL-SET-/170666730375?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AMazda|Model%3A3&hash=item27bc87a387
For under $300, is it too good to be true? The cheapest we could find for these locally were just under $600. How is it possible these are so cheap if they're legit?

It is always possible to find them cheap like that in the states and the seller doesn't seem to be too sketch.
If you are ok with possibly delayed shipping then go for it. If you blow a shock/strut right away, etc I wouldn't expect any kind of warranty though.

They are around the same price from AAS so looks like it might be better off to buy them from the US if the shipping price is good.

Yeahh the delayed shipping I'm ok with...
For the warranty, it does say "KYB lifetime warranty included"... But again, how legit is this?
I guess you could say I'm a newb to eBay, I've never bought anything huge from them (I bought a keychain once LOL).. is there protection through ebay at all if the lifetime warranty is denied by KYB for whatever reason I wonder?

I've dealt with AAS in the past with my previous car and they were ok. I'm sure there are other places you could get them from as well. You can still do the Ebay thing as it seems like a good deal.
I'm not sure what sponsors are over on M3F but you might want to see if anyone there carries them as well. Have you got a quote from Northern Performance here on TM3?
If their feedback is good then their shouldn't be any problems.
Last week I ordered complete brakes all the around for my car and today when I went to install them the rear pads were wrong an I called them and the sent me the right ones right away at no added cost to me... So as long as they got good feedback you shouldn't have a problem

hmmm nope, maybe i'll try them too!
I guess my worry now would be for the warranty to be valid, the KYB site says the item must come from an authorized dealer... which I can't seem to find a list of any sort on their website...

from KYB
Good afternoon Gab, unfortunally we don’t have a list of retailers on line, if you are filing a warranty claim for one of our products, you will need to go back to the retailer where the parts were originally purchased from and bring your receipt, if you are looking to buy our product, some of our largest retailers would be: CARQUEST AUTO PARTS, ADAVANCE AUTO PARTS, OREILLYS AUTO PARTS.

Bought KYB's off ebay recently, good price and reasonable shipping. Much cheaper than here in Ontario, I've installed them and everything's good, that's onr experience for you at least.
