I do...mostly because it's the closest shop I trust (QEW Mazda). If I was closer to Street Performance, I'd probably take it there though.

I would honestly say those who have modded theirs to a point of "no return" no longer go to a dealership. Some with minor mods can still get away with going there without being hassled.

It's all about who you trust too.

This is true. I don't have a lot of mods (yet) so it's not a huge issue to me.

WHATTT THE FAAAAKKKK!!!! hahaha

yeh I know. Jimmy has started to work on my car and he's great. But my turbo is smoking like a mutha so I'll need to get that sorted there.

But wasn't sure if it was mandetory to have car serviced by dealer while it still was under powertrain warranty. I understand all the mod things. I'm not at point of no return just yet...

LOL..... You should bring it in to get the turbo replaced if it's still on warranty...... You don't have too many mods right??? Whatever you stay away from Dufferin Mazda.......

loki

going to take it to Gyro Mazda where I bought the car. To get the turbo looked at.

Only mod they'll see on the car when it goes in is the Cobb intake and RMM.

You don't have to have the warranty service done at the stealership. As long you have all the receipts that indicate all the proper work was done. Mazda will still do the warranty work.....

How bad is this smoking turbo thing?? Anybody has a video or perhaps a photo of what it might look like?? In the morning, I notice a small amount of white smoke coming out however, it dies down as the car warms up.... Might be a good idea to have them replaced..

Mine's still fine I guess.. :) However, here's a video of what I found on youtube.

I've read stuff about this, you think one of the reasons why the turbo would smoke like that is if it's not cooling properly? That hot oil remains and gets stuck there or something?? Just a thought..

No way going to dealership unless it is covered under warranty. I hate being over charged

agreed.

I think I will just take to dealer to have them sort out this smoking turbo and any future warranty related issues, and everything else will be dealt with at SP.

"Sir, your rear motor mount looks suspiciously overengineered and of vastly better quality than our OEM mount. I'm going to have to single that out as the cause of your smoking turbo, as well as higher fuel consumption."

same here. I drive all the way out to QEW mazda because they treat me like gold. I avoid Gyro at all costs.

Sounds like a good plan. Take your car to QEW Mazda and talk to Tiffany, tell her I sent you :P

As per this post, Tiffany is no longer at QEW Mazda. Not sure who will/has take over but if they are as good as Tiffany was, then I'll still trust the dealership.

I still bring my 07 in for regular oil changes, but I bring in my oil. Extended warranty is up in Oct 2012, so I'll prob just do my own oil changes after that.

My car has mainly been served at Probart in London, but I have had work done at Gryo. Haven't heard anything from them regarding my car.

They shouldn't give you any issues for what you have and I can give you the names of the sales people that made comments about the car.

That's not entirely the case, my Mazda6 was as modded as it gets and I still took it to the dealership for service, even after warranty had expired. I'll be doing the same with my Speed. I go to Avante for all of my services every 4000km I'm there for at least an oil change. I have had no issues with warranty despite having my 6 fully modded. If it was a warranty claim, it was covered if not then it wasn't. They never turned away my car or gave me a hard time because it was modded. Not to mention other then the new Maple Mazda (which is what my garage used to be called before the dealership was built) is the closet dealership to my house.

I don't have a Speed3 but if I did, even modded I'd take it to a 'trusted' DEALER before anywhere else.Reason; Turbo failures. If you service your vehicle continuously at a specific dealer that does not respond in a negative way to any mods and you have your records (and theirs) of all oil changes done, then IF and WHEN your turbo or any part of your engine dies you have a better chance of them covering it with no hassles, Period.Once the warranty is up then go anywhere you like as nothing is covered. But remember 'most' failures will occur 'sooner' then 'later', hense a warranty period.

I had Jimmy do my 48k service. But I still do oil changes at Mazda, I find them cheaper than other places. I buy my own oil (get it when it's on sale) and Mazda removes the cost for oil, so it only costs $34 @ Markham Mazda (+ the cost of the synthetic oil).

I don't have too many mods, but they've never said anything to me about them.

I can't remember what it entails exactly, I went to Mazda, had them print off what was in the service, then brought that print off, my oil & new filter to Jimmy and had him do what was on it. I think Jimmy saved me about $75 over what the dealership wanted (but I also had him do a couple mods too at the time) I think even with my mods I paid exactly how much Mazda wanted for just the service. Jimmy is great for that.

Does Jimmy give you a receipt of the service done? And do you save these? Remember Jimmy may be cheaper, but if it comes down to a toasted turbo or engine, Jimmy ain't going to help you out there. That's why it's important to get and keep receipts (Still not safe as Mazda can contest these), but even better; Pay the measly extra few dollars and get your oil changes done at the dealer. Then there can be NO argument IF you blow your turbo or engine, period....it's up to you, just a word of caution.

Note; This only applies if your still under warranty.

I got a receipt from Jimmy outlining everything he did. Mazda can't say squat. I have every receipt for everything I've ever done to the vehicle.

Mazda also just did the Turbo fix for me in May. They've seen my minor mods and they didn't say anything. The guy @ Ajax Mazda who worked on my car has a pimped out CWP MS3.

When going in for my vent kit I had Jimmy, Jiffy Lube and Mr. Lube receipts (change oil often and not always near a dealer). Nothing was said about those locations and I was approved within hours.

bought my car from Ajax mazda, but its a bit of a trip out there esp when Scarborough Mazda is just up the street. I bought the extended warranty when I got my car used in '10.
I just took my car in last month because my power steering pump had failed and the lines were leaking. When I went there after the mechanic had done the intial diag the service advisor told me that the mechanic wanted to talk to me....
Mechanic takes me outside and first question he asked is 'how are those track days?' I laugh and say great! He says that he can tell from the way my tires are somewhat shagged....that and what I had done to the car. He told me the service advisors had wanted to reject working on my car, but since his own car is modded he is comfortable working on it, and the fact that nothing I had done would have caused the power steering to fail the way it did, that they were going to push through the warranty claim (and they did...big props to them)

He did mention that if I ever did have smokin turbo or other emissions stuff, put the stock cat (I have a test pipe) and exhaust back in, and put the stock tune (I have an Access Port) back in so they can't claim those as contributing factors.
The parts guys there I know also run track days and stuff so its nice going in and talking to them.

my car is going in on Monday for smoking turbo

I backed in towards the service department glass window and left it running while I went to talk to them. They're like, just so you know, it has to smoke while the technician is looking at it. I said just look out your window and sure enough it was smoking up their lot....

anyway, I have a magnaflow cat back and it's going in just the way it is.

Well thats great. That is the point I was trying to get across, if your not taking the vehicle to a Mazda dealer MAKE SURE you keep accurate records of all maintenance done...enough said.
